Ivan Henry aka Moose Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Hello mates i was trying to search for a thread about what kind of food did pirates have in there encampment. i was looking for a list of what they might bring ashore, any help would be greatful Thankie D.man I'm not an expert at all, but while researching food for a pirate theme party, I read that pirates ate a lot of Solomon Grundy (is that the name they used for turtle soup?) while on ship, as well as hard tack - those nasty cracker bread things. Needless to say, I didn't go that route for the buffet. Boucaniers seemed to have grilled copious amounts of boar and cattle that had been released on various Caribbean Islands. Hell that sounds like a good time, grilling and large amounts of grog. Hope i helped a little...
michaelsbagley Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 This Discussion Thread is although rather long, has tons of great information (mostly thanks to Dutch, Mission, and Iron Jon)... Definately worth checking out. Dampier's Coconut has some interestign tidbits as well.
