The 7,000-square-foot exhibit, which coincides with the International Year of Astronomy, also features a dazzling array of 16th- and 17th-century scientific instruments from the institute's collection. Scattered through the exhibits are also oil paintings of members of the Medici family, a powerful dynasty that was famous for its patronage of arts and science, including the work of Galileo.
