Capt Thighbiter
THe question is: What is meant by a 'round hat' and when were they introduced, not on ship, but ashore? Pirate music at it's best, from 1650 onwards The Brigands

LadyBarbossa
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but round hat I believe generally refers to a hat - wool or fur - that the brim was left as is and not turned up into a cocked hat style. Although the edge of the brim could be trimmed. If so, I don't think there is a sure-fire time period they were "introduced". ~Lady B Tempt Fate! an' toss 't all t' Hell!"
