Red Maria Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 I just came across a very favorable review of this title in the International Journal of Maritime History v.15:1 June, 2003 pg.230 Age of Sail: The International Annual of the Historic Sailing Ship London : Conway Maritime Press ISSN 0-85177-925-5 http://www.chrysalisbooks.co.uk/books/book/0851779255 Has anyone read this periodical? If you did what Do you think of it? Thanks
Wartooth Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Haven't read it, but appreciate you posting the info and the link. Something to look into. Wartooth
capnwilliam Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Looks like a great work, Maria. That Conway Maritime Press looks to have a lot of great stuff! Capt. William "The fight's not over while there's a shot in the locker!"
Red Maria Posted February 10, 2004 Author Posted February 10, 2004 I finally got the person who is th archivist for the maritime collection here to look at it. The Library os getting a subscription. Can't wait till it gets here! When things settle down I am seriously thinking of getting that Pirates of the Caribbean book. :)
JoshuaRed Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 I got the Pirates of the Caribbean book...it's pretty good overall, but with a heavy focus on the Elizabethan raiders like Drake and Hawkins. Not a whole lot in there on the early 18th century guys post-Q.A.War. What is good about it is that it's written by a Spanish historian, and the info is culled from Spanish primary sources, so it's a very interesting viewpoint. Other side of the coin, so to speak.
Milamber Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 sounds lke a cool book i will have to check it out
