willie wobble Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Yep, www.floridafrontiersmen.org then go to Alafia river rendezvous
Jack Roberts Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 How accepted is it for very early clothing? Obviously I'm right at the turn of the century into the 1700's? It might fun to check it out and I would like to go in garb.
Captain Jim Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Jack, how far are you away from this? I am tentatively thinking about Friday the 22nd (be aware that this is actually an old thread for last year's event, so watch the dates.) It all depends on whether SWIMBO can pick up the kids after school. Garb would be fun. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Jack Roberts Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Yeah I was thinking either friday or saturday. We should plan on meeting up. Me and Brig will probably be there with the little one.
willie wobble Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 Yes this years date is fri sat Jan 22-23 for public days if your not camping but it starts today Jan 13 the past 5 years i've always gone in me garb its more fun that way , there are folks there you will know from PIP ,BOOGATOR and Doug searils buccaneers another crew from st augustine will all be camping,Meself being a business owner will have to work Friday but will be there on sat , besides if you don't go in garb you'll feel out of place the event is billed as any period Pre-1840 and i think we fit in just fine. look for me on saturday , the Wobble
Captain Jim Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Can't do Saturday so it's Friday for me for sure. In garb. I'll probably go as a civilian with breeches, not a pyrate and slops. Hate to carry all those weapons and have no place to play with 'em. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Jack Roberts Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Dang it Jim!!! I'm a pyrate hunter not a pyrate..... I'm flying home on friday. I can only do saturday. Tis a great shame.
Captain Jim Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 So it would seem that I shall miss you yet again. *Le Sigh* My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Captain Jim Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 So, who's coming. Best reenactor shopping in Florida. Pyrates (historically accurate ones, anyway) welcome. http://www.floridafr...visitorflyr.pdf http://www.floridafr...Alafia2012.html My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
willie wobble Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Ye just may see my bilge water bearded face wandering 'round It just can't be missed , its a great Event
D B Couper Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Last year was our first time. We'll be geared up (for cold weather) this time. Will probably go both days again. Hard to beat those great bargain blankets. D.B. Couper
willie wobble Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Alafia starts today for those camping but the public days are next friday saturday, this is almost Alafia weather we are having here in Fla , its usually close to freezing I'm planning on next saturday to be Wobbling around there
D B Couper Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I'm planning on next saturday to be Wobbling around there Will he D.B. Couper
willie wobble Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 its not till this weekend for day visitors , I just don't have the time to camp this week
Captain Jim Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Just like Stynky to go into the future to inquire about the past. Never enough history to satisfy him. Or something like that. Edited January 18, 2012 by Captain Jim My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
D B Couper Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 That's what happens when you mix "Back to the Future" with reverse osmosis. D.B. Couper
Captain Jim Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Or rhum and gunpowder... My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Stynky Tudor Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 . . . I just thought I would ask before I forgot, I think. Geez you people expect a lot from me - I mean read, comprehend and obey the basic laws of physics, like time and space. I hardly ever know what day it is, much less the time or my place.
Captain Jim Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Stynky! Reality has finally caught up with you! Alafia was great. Met up with Willie Wobble, William and Doug From St. Augustine. There was also another castaway from the Searles crew but I have sadly forgotten his name; Willie will remember and post it directly. The day was generally spent shopping and wandering aimlessly, all in the pursuit of free libations, many of which were found and dispatched. Special thanks to Chickasaw and his keg of Yingling. I got a lid lifter and a small onion bottle (short of funds, you know.) My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Brig Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Sad I missed this event, AGAIN...it sounds like a good one. Hoping for next year, as ever. Glad you had a great time, Captain Jim! Oh, how beautiful it used to be Just you and me, far beyond the sea -Nightwish Alice Mason, Crewe of the Archangel
Captain Jim Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Brig, my sweet, you should have been there. Perhaps people would not have run in fear quite so quickly. I didn't take a camera so I have no picture of Doug, who, when in the character of Manynames, is something to behold. And avoid. Especially when he's upwind. However, if you have anything to sell, put him on it. He's nearly as good as Chrispy. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Captain Jim Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Alafia is once again upon us. Right now the plan is to go on Friday. Dates this year are January 18-25, Public days being Friday and Saturday, the 24-25. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
