Capt. Sterling
snigger and one foot in the grave... Capt. Sterling
drug it there? More like a little push in the right direction "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
silas thatcher
kinda figgered there is some type of harness involved.... and not having anything around your neck attached to anything else... but didn't figger in all the rest of the goings on surrounding the hanging... sure is a heckuvalot more going on than meets the eye.... 'twas a pleasure watching you hang capt. hope to get better pics next time :)
Captain Jim
I arrived with the inmate hanging, still breathing and barely conscious. We got her down and were able to revive her, due to the very short time that she was hanging, but the ligature marks indicated that she was only a few minutes from a successful attempt. Good on ye for gettin' 'er down in time. Hopefully she'll find that living is a whole lot better than dying. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around... Rumba Rue
*Just wanted to throw this in: I worked the Knotts Berry Farm Halloween Haunt for 9 years. The first 5 there use to be the hanging of the witch. So many people complained that it was not appropriete for kids it was finally changed to a more acceptable show using a Rocky Horror theme. So many people complained that it was not appropriete for kids it was finally changed to a more acceptable show using a Rocky Horror theme. i firmly believe there are venues which a hanging is not appropriate.....kids partys for example....a bah mitzva perhaps.....a christening ...i think not..... we have always done our version of a Hanging for the Historical context....not for the shear gore factor...... we always take into consiration the audience....families or adults.etc....and re-act accordingly....we have done it for after hours adutls only historical venues with full on gote and special effects...really creepy and realistic....and have also done it for boy scout jambories...where a more comical and a NEAR hanging took place.....but always we try and teach a very real part of our collective history....the social aspects...the historical ramifications...and how we (society)are shaped today...... but ALWAYS...if done for a more family freindly venue....an immediate saftey demostration after the show is done...up close and personal with all children and parents....toshow the magic of.....and for the more adult performances...usually lead into very poignant discussions of socirtys views both today and then. but i do agree...there are some venues it would be inappropriate....a petting zoo perhaps....but for Historical Interpretations....i feel to NOT show corporal punishments at the time...is an injuctice to history. I find it interesting that Rockey Horror was considered "family friendly". It really makes you think. I mean Eddie Meatloaf for dinner! The entire theme of that movie is sex, sex, sex. THAT is considered acceptable for family's?Makes you wonder about the society that thinks that way. Kids are forced and choose to grow up far too fast.Besides, wouldn't they burn a witch? Capt. Sterling
Over here, they hanged em "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... Silkie McDonough
See ...we need to be shown these things. We are such a visual society anyway. The impact of these visuals is a lesson you don't soon forget.
Rumba Rue
I totally agree with your perception of Rocky Horror and sex. But hey I wasn't in charge of the stuff.... But the worst was I was playing a witch on the roof of the saloon with pyrotecnics and such at the time and the biggest complainers were a group of women who claimed to be witches with two pounds of black eye make-up and such that it still makes me cringe to think of them as a representative of us who are white witches and need no 'special effects' to stand out. But back to the topic at hand, I think it would have been cool to see Sterling hanging about.

Diosa De Cancion
So, my main thought here is which pirates on here did NOT have something to do with Rocky Horror in their past? It seems most of us had that dress up moment in our lives before we dressed up as pirates :) Still not sure if can picture Dogge as Frank...Eddie, yeah, but Frank? Really???? Wow.....
