MadL Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Rum balls, rum filled candy canes, rum 'n eggnog all be fine but....how else did pirates celebrate Christmas?? Perhaps some friendly island plunder'n?? 'er perhaps they had some favorite X-mas songs; personally I prefer"Little Hooters Girl" (#6), 'er something like me favorite Yule Tide movie flick Santa's Slay (availible on DVD!)? So just how did pirates celebrate X-Mas? http://www.last.fm/music/Tom+Smith/_/A+Pirate+Christmas http://www.amazon.com/Elf-Bowling-Movie-Jo...y/dp/B000SK5ZE8 (Product Description: When Santa's half-wit brother kidnaps the elves, Santa and super-elf Lex team up to save the day! Based on the enormously popular game, this beautiful computer-graphics animated movie is full of pirates) ~All skill be in vain if an angel pisses down th' barrel o' yer flintlock! So keep yer cutlass sharp, 'n keep her close!

Blackbead Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Here be a way that one old seadog celebrated in the past . . . Rana A crowded, smoke-filled jungle clearing: Pulsing drums, gyrating bodies, A swirl of raucous pleasure. So exotic and new to me And yet as old as the world. And then you are there, Shouting your name so I can hear it: “Ranavalona, but they call me Rana.” Half French and half Merinha, you say, You tell me you are “Hova” but to me it sounds like “home,” Your smile, your laughter, The sparkle of the firelight in your eyes . . . And then we slip away into the night To share a dance all alone. Your face framed in my hands . . . Your whispered words in pidgin French Become a song in my ear . . . The movement of your body under my hand . . . Then, later, I lean close, to give you a gift of pearls Taken from a treasure chest aboard a Moghul galleon Bound for Persia from the Indee. Even now, years later, I feel the warmth and the weight Of your breast against my chest. A moment of intimacy in a river of time But it marks itself as a memory On a day that I can never forget. Enchanté, mademoiselle, enchanté, Rana. Stephen Sanders ©2008 A very Merry Christmas to us all! "In the end, it's not the gold that sets our sails, 'Tis freedom and the promise of a better life That raises our black flags."
