b_fost Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 in the movie 'pirates of the carribean', johnny depp repeatedly sings the phrase 'and really bad eggs..' what is the rest of this song? im assuming this is a pirate song.,thanks a lot.
Capt. Morgan Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 Ahoy and welcome! General concensus round these parts are that the line is a "Depp-ism" (thanks fer that Ryann, lass!), added as part of the song, "A Pirate's Life For Me" from the PotC ride as Disney... been to the ride many times, and never remeber hearin' anything about really bad eggs... meself, I use this line when singin' the song... "We drink lots o' rum 'n eat really bad eggs, drink up me 'earties, YO HO!" Call it a "Morgan-ism" if'n ye want! Touche' Ship's Marksman & Crab Fiend Pyrates of the Coast "All the skill in the world goes out the window if an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket." "Florida points like a guiding thumb, To the southern isles of rumba and rum, To the mystery cities and haunted seas, Of the Spanish Main and the Caribbees..."
Desert Pyrate Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 There's definitely the line in the ride... "we're scoundrels and villains and really bad eggs, drink up me hearties yo ho..."
PirateQueen Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 General concensus round these parts are that the line is a "Depp-ism" (thanks fer that Ryann, lass!), added as part of the song, "A Pirate's Life For Me" from the PotC ride as Disney... been to the ride many times, and never remeber hearin' anything about really bad eggs Consensus? I don't think so! That line is definitely in the song. Here are the lyrics: Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me We pillage, we plunder we rifle and loot Drink up me hearties, yo ho We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot Drink up me hearties, yo ho Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me We extort, we pilfer we filch and sack Drink up me hearties, yo ho Maraud and embezzle and even high-jack Drink up me hearties yo ho Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me We kindle and char inflame and ignite Drink up me hearties, yo ho We burn up the city we're really a fright Drink up me hearties, yo ho We're rascals, scoundrels villains, and knaves Drink up me hearties yo ho We're devils and black sheep - really bad eggs Drink up me hearties yo ho Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads Drink up me hearties, yo ho Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads Drink up me hearties, yo ho Melusine de la Mer "Well behaved women rarely make history." - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
Captain Jack Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Aye agree with PirateQueen. Those be the words I have. Been usin' them for a few years closing me shows. ~ Jack Bartholemew
Capt. Morgan Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Well I'll be... thanks fer straightenin' me out... there was a discussion about that very line about a week back, and no one had an answer... thats where the "consensus" thing came from... learn somethin' new here every day!! Touche' Ship's Marksman & Crab Fiend Pyrates of the Coast "All the skill in the world goes out the window if an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket."
