TheBlackFox Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Got the hotel set for Fells Point Pyrate Invasion. With help from a few Pirate Masters, The Pyrates Way will be everywhere giving away FREE magazines all day and then changing into our pyrate garb for the night time bar hop. This is going to be a blast!
1stMate Matt Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I was thinking about a 1$ a ticket raffle at the soiree for one of my swords to help keep costs down for the event. -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
crimson corsair Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 Is there a limit to the amount of tickets you can buy for the raffle??
Capt Thighbiter Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Matt, your swords are soooo worth the coin, ever since I got mine at Blackbeard last year, it's a point of interest for almost every patron! Dam shame I can't win it at the Soiree... See ye on Fri nite! Pirate music at it's best, from 1650 onwards The Brigands
1stMate Matt Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 We would we put a cap on how many tickets someone can buy? That would be silly. It's all about raising money to make the show bigger and better both this year and following years. -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
1stMate Matt Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Saturday will now feature a performance by my good friend Dai Andrews who is a Sword Swallower. Dai worked in my shop for awhile and has had a roll in making quite a few swords. He is also the only sword swallower that swallows a curved cutlass the way he does. For more info on Dai please see his website http://swordswallower.com/ -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
Graydog Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) Saturday will now feature a performance by my good friend Dai Andrews who is a Sword Swallower. Dai worked in my shop for awhile... There is a joke in there about a sword swallower working in a sword shop about eating your profits, but I shan't go there. We fly out to the event Thursday next week and are looking forward all around. Fair winds, -Greydog Edited April 9, 2009 by Graydog Why am I sharing my opinion? 1stMate Matt Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Only a few more days! I am scrambling trying to make as much stuff as I can for the show not to mention I have to restock a few dealers this week. Most of our guests are flying in Thursday evening. The rest on Friday in time for the soiree. As planned now, we will be set up in front of the Admiral Fells Hotel. I believe it is the only magazine stand and certainly the only place you can buy a magazine and a sword all in one stop :) -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
crimson corsair Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) I can't wait to see your booth. I will have to make it a "POINT" to stop by... Edited April 14, 2009 by crimson corsair
1stMate Matt Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I was going to wait to say anything but it looks like I will be unvailing our new bronze eagle head pommel at the show this weekend. If all goes well we should be pooring them thursday giving me enough time to clean a few up and have them for the show. So, I am excited about that. I am a little bumbed that I wont have as many wood handled pieces as I first hoped. I want to have as many finished pieces for the show so it looks like most will be leather wraps which is still the best handle for stage use IMO. -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
Graydog Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 If all goes well we should be pooring them thursday giving me enough time to clean a few up and have them for the show. Wow, sounds like they'll still be warm. Can't wait to see them. Why am I sharing my opinion? 1stMate Matt Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 So it seems we will have a fair number of pubbers. Anyone got a head count? -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
Capt Thighbiter Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hey Matt, for those pubbers that dont have the "P" badge, I have a really small P branding iron I made. At Renn faires, we use a stamp pad and 'mark' new crew members. I can give us all a nice P on the cheek! Pirate music at it's best, from 1650 onwards The Brigands
1stMate Matt Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 :) I will gladly watch that one. About 31 hrs till the Soiree. Looks like we will be blessed with good weather for the weekend. They were calling for showers in the evening on Sat but now its all clear and beautiful!!! -1st Mate of Pirates Magazine -Bladesmith/Owner of That Works Studio http://youtube.com/thatworks thatworks.shop
Flint Locke Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Just be rememberin' when yer all drunk: Ye can P people's cheeks, but don't be P-in' on people's cheeks. That said, I hope to see many of you on Saturday! Agnes "Flint" Locke "All the world's a stage! ...And I just fell into the orchestra pit." Newbie o' th' Drunken Ferret
crimson corsair Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 As far as how many Pubbers we are going to have is really had to say. It seems that each year we double from the year before as Capt'n Thighbitter can tell you as He and his crew has joined us at our 2nd annual Baltimore Pyrate Inavasion. last year we had 500 peolpe buy the pub crawl buttons and we sold out in about one hour of so. that wes 500 buttons. Plus all the people that just came out with out with out buying a button. I would bet there were over 600 pirates plundering there way around Fells Point I'm sure the weather may play a big roll in the amount of people we have as well. 72 and sunny.
Pirate Seika Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Have a GRAND time all.. sounds like fun.. i however have gone bust since having me time in New Orleans.. have to plunder some more galleons this comin' year to replenish me treasure chest.... ~QM Seika Hellbound~ We ain't no stinking Parrots!!!"
Flint Locke Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Bloody 'ell am I tired! Tired, sore, sunburned, and with no more singin' voice. Fantastic day. One which I, unlike probably several of the privateers 'ere, will remember in the morning. Agnes "Flint" Locke "All the world's a stage! ...And I just fell into the orchestra pit." crimson corsair Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) My voice is gone. My feet are killing me. My ears are still ringging from taking a full broad side from the "Pride Of Baltimore II" in the ship battle from about 60 feet away. My hang over from friday night is finally gone....I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!!!! I had a hell of a good time.... Edited April 19, 2009 by crimson corsair
Rogue Mermaid Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I have a really weird sunburn, but I had an amazing time!
TheBlackFox Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 We had a very successful set of raids during the day and the crawl (we took the traditional route) was amazing. My calves are still whining but it was all worth it. Huzzah to all m'fellow pyrates and wenches. . . it was a wonderful showing with smiles everywhere.
Lily Alexander Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 A special thanks to Duncan McGuyver and the Crew of the Vigilant for hosting a wonderful event. The sea battle was awesome and I had a great time playing games with everyone. Thank you for letting us share a patch of land with you all. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/
Capt. Sterling Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) As always, no matter what the setting, tis always a great blessing to be with family and friends. Although being on watch with Pern stretched from one am to 4:30 am...still wouldn't mind doing it again... maybe... in a year or two... Fells Point was a new event for the Archangel crewe, but those of us that attended had a truly wonderful time of it and as always learned a lot and know better what to expect next year. It was an honour and a pleasure to meet Gentleman Scotty and his lovely Lady, my apologies for not being able to chat more, as per usual I was running to and fro. Crimson Corsair, it was a delight having the opportunity to chat with you as well on Friday evening during Watch after the ball. The sea battle was wonderful to watch(volunteered for guard duty back at the camp due to being on meds) and I believe Sean took a number of pictures that I will download as soon as I figure out where he packed the camera. Captain McGuyver, once again twas a pleasure to work with ye and yer lot. Scuttle hatch was a blast! Thank ye so very much for the invitation. Hope we added to the mix and we look forward to seeing ye all again at Blackbeards. Edited April 20, 2009 by Capt.
