michaelsbagley Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Okay then folks.... Here it is, the (un)official 2008 Pirates in Paradise car pool thread. I'll start. Kate, myself, Nick and Ashley will likely be leaving from central Ohio Wednesday evening I'm guessing it will likely be between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM by the time we get home from work, get organized and get going. Mapquest has the drive at 21 hours. With such a long drive, we will not likely want to go very far out of the way... But I'm guessing we could go a little out of the way, specially if it helps save some funds. Mapquest has us mostly on I-77 for the first few hundred miles, and then on I-95 for the bulk of the rest of the journey... We have room for up to three people with light gear, or one or two people with moderate amounts of gear... Let us know if we can help you get there, or if you can help us. Cheers.
Capt. Sterling Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Hmmm ordinarily I would say drop by the house and take a breather, but I am hoping to be on the road late Tuesday night as soon as somebody gets off of work... and I would tack on a few hours at least to Mapquest's estimate... took me 22 hours from my place in Virginia and we only stopped for gas and to grab food what we ate in the car.... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
Fayma Callahan Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 We drive it each year, and the only real variable has been traffic in Tennessee. we made the trip from Cincinnati area in about 21 hours, with multiple drivers, no real stopping, just gas, food and potty stops. (Must all be at the same time, the Captain doesn't like to make special stops). http://picasaweb.google.com/jamesacallahan100
hurricane Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Sorry for the multiple posts, but this is important to some of you... Just got word from Key West and the Bone Island Buccaneers... The festival at the fort itself has been extended. It is now Thursday, Dec. 4 through Dec. 7. For those that have flexibility in your booking or travel arrangements, you may want to adjust for a four-day festival instead of the original three. I would assume move in is bumped up to Dec. 2 & 3. The revised schedule is at http://www.piratesinparadise.com/schedule/index.html -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed.
