Rumba Rue
Yes, Gold Coast Productions who put on the Ojai and Escondido faires (among other events they do) is adding a brand new pirate faire in Vista, California located in north county San Diego. For more information go to: Pirate Faire in Vista Vista is the next city after Oceanside off Highway 78.
Rumba Rue
Boats and I went out to Vista yesterday (we timed it from where our new home will be and it took a little less than 20 minutes with traffic) to check out the site for the new pirate faire; well it's not going to be very big, the dirt lot where the event will be held is far smaller than the central area of the Ojai vendor/guild areas. The place has got farm stuff everywhere and the place could sure use a good cleaning up..... According to Dick Wixon who is putting this on he thinks he wants to try something in the 'round' with the center as entertainment.............this seems even more unlikely after seeing the size of the area..........but hey I don't map these things out. Directions from the 78 going west, get off at Vista Village Drive, follow it to N. Santa Fe Ave and turn left. Follow it up and it will be on your left a few miles. Coming from the west on the 78 (as if you were going to Escondido) from the 5 freeway south, get off on Vista Village Drive, go left at the light, over the freeway and follow directions to N. Santa Fe Ave.
Desert Dragoon
will it be worth it to go? I'd be driving about 100 miles to go check it out.
Rumba Rue
Hard to say................ Due to the small size I honestly don't think it's worth a 100 mile drive......but that's just my opinion. Won't really know until it happens. The Escondido Renaissance Faire is a far better bet. Graydog
The Alliance of the Double Cross will be at this event. See you all thar. Fair Winds, -Greydog Why am I sharing my opinion? Because I am a special snowflake who has an opinion of such import that it must be shared and because people really care what I think!

Christine
I'm going to try and go to this. Quite a few people in my family are going. If all goes well I should have that weekend off. *crosses fingers*
Capn_Jack_Savvy
We will definitely be there. Steampunk pirates sounds like an awesome idea but now way to get it ready in less than a month.....although I am working on something................! Pirates and steam trains and agricultural hardware should be interesting enough!
Desert Dragoon
we had a blast at escondido... I think we are going to make the drive down for vista!
Graydog
We be considering kidnapping (with a ransom to be paid of course) and a wench auction at this har event. Anybody out thar want to be kidnapped or participate in the auction? We have found that as strange as it may seem askin the victims ahead of time tends to drastically reduce both thar resistance and the involvement of actual authorities. Replica period coin or other negotiables fer payment, none of that thar modern strange paper fer ransom and auction. (Actually, our attempt to collect real money for charity through these activities was rebuffed by the event organizer as he felt the activities might be found to be offensive! Har, har, har. So, we be doin them anyway, just off the official schedule and sans real money. (Welcome to friggin touchy feely California.)) Fair Winds, -Greydog Why am I sharing my opinion? Rumba Rue
Due to circumstances way beyond my control, I won't be able to attend. Moving so late in Nov. (instead of October when it should have happened) has put a crimp on things. So much to do in the new home before we can put things away.

oderlesseye
Eye have to say the same..A grand tyme was had! The "Phone call to the Govenor" I will never forget.. that were damn funny! Eye double crossd me Capt. and His wench . The Govenor was awaitin and so we were escorting them to his Mansion for prosecution. One of the funnier bits I have ever seen...The Phone call thing was the next day where another guild streched out a string and two cans across the whole faire ground with coffee cans attached to both ends...When I got tried for Piracy and Mutiny in chains , they did the gig again only added a "Powder keg to help the phone system work better"..We ran when the fuse was lit.. (Thar was not any powder present so relax!)... This faire though slow the first day and meddoker the next for the venders Was great..We did not git our gizzards cooked like at Ojia of Corona..To bad they wanna move the next Vista fair to like July or something... I expected more steam punk pirates to show up but it was not the case..I did get some pics of one fellow ..those are one the Steam punk thread. Here is the video of the first Govenors trial with capt. Syn and Moraga Doone.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOO0SuckiaA Edited December 9, 2008 by oderlesseye http://www.myspace.com/oderlesseyehttp://www.facebook....esseye?ref=nameHangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there! As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words: "My treasure to he who can understand."
