Red Bess
My better half Sjöröveren is having gastric by-pass surgery this morning. The lads and I are in the waiting room now, but the word is so far so good. I would appreciate prayers and positive thoughts for a successful outcome and a speedy recovery. I'll keep you posted to his condition. Thanks, mates! Ladies in Scarlet: Piratical Art and Accessories

LadyBarbossa
Aye, here be hopes an' prayers ol' Sea Rover goes through th' procedure without fault and that speedy recovery. and beyond, that his health remains and improves. A tricky gambit it is... but good choice, too. Many folks I've seen do this procedure and come out thinner but also healthier in many ways. ~Lady B Tempt Fate! an' toss 't all t' Hell!" Ransom
I've known two people to undergo such a surgery, and come through just fine. And the weight they lost afterwards made it all worth while. I will send all good thoughts and prayers your way, for a speedy recovery. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... Red Bess
Well, the surgery went well and he's recovering in his room now. Groggy as hell, but still being a smart-ass, so I think he's going to be just fine. I'm really proud of him for doing this. Not something to be taken lightly. But he has struggled with weight all his life, and at this stage (50+) he felt it was the right thing to do. And doctors agreed. Of course, now he will need all new pirate garb.... I think maybe that was part of the plan all along... Ladies in Scarlet: Piratical Art and Accessories
Capt. Bo of the WTF co.
Glad to hear it, and hope to meet the "new" him someday, although I never got to meet the "old' him. Hang in there. Bo

Red Bess
He's doing well, still very uncomfortable at times, but taking fluids and walking up and down the hallways. Not sure if they will send him home over the weekend, or wait until Monday. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to both of us. Sjöröveren
I am happy to report that I am home and feeling pretty good. Yesterday was pretty bad, as all the CO2 used to inflate my abdomen tried to find an escape route. After trying to rise and go out my shoulders, the gas wised up and chose the only exit nature has provided me. Today I am feasting on 1/2 teaspoonfuls of sugar-free jello and other such luxuries. But I have seen another tide, and will sail again soon! the Fool's Gold Pirates
