Red-Handed Jill
Hey - I'd never worn one of those before. And I thought at first that was a fun house mirror, but nope - it was me and my "squishability" factor. Ojai was a blast, both literally and figuratively! It was great to see Iron Bess on Saturday; we spent the afternoon playing our bodhrans and singing chanteys along with Jack and some of the other Tales members. And we had a great time hanging out with Jacky Tar and going shopping for that tit mouse. I'm still laughing! (Or would be if I could talk - still have no voice...) And yeah - next kidnapping, I'll bring a couple of boarding axes. Although spanking Kenneth was just TOO much fun.
thomas the tit mouse
Ransom held for ransom, by the Kern Co. Privateers! I saw their primitive encampment, and I sympathize with the hardship which has befallen them. Had I only known, I would have doubled their asking price, and asked that they kept her. Kenneth
Ojai was awsome.. It was nice to See Tales again. Ransom, Chainshot, Redhanded Jill and Jack, Iron Bess, Jacky Tar. I got to meet D man and Pirate Pete. The Double cross was once again very welcoming and we love those guys, always a pleasure. so lets recap shall we? The double cross informed us about drilling vent holes with a hand drill and after about 3 seconds we decided to listen to them considering they were going to school us on cannon drills and safe firing. So sad to say but happy to have my hands and arms, we didn't fire our new cannons and are in the process of having them drilled correctly. Got to kidnapp Ransom. For a minute I thought Chainshot was going to sell her flask on E bay and let us keep her. But he came, without any back up, we should have held him and Red handed jill for ransom, but they were let go for five gold coins. I did get spanked by Jill but I liked it so there. I got to see a Viking and an Airship pirate (or was he a steam punk?) fight over who should be at the Pirate faire and who shouldn't. The Viking said Airship pirates are stupid and it's a Pirate faire and he doesn't belong there and the Airship pirate said at least the name pirate is in his title and the viking is way off timeline. I butted in and told them that it doesn't really matter because there are 500 vampires 400 fairies and at least 2 people dressed in furry costumes, one as a wolf and the other as a hairy football. There were 200 knights, 5 kings, a court jester and some lady dressed like a Spartan. 4 guys running around with coconuts like Monty Python holy grail and everyone else was in a kilt and wearing fur.. They both agreed they were stupid and went on they're way. I had a guy tell me when I was in line for ice cream that he couldn't understand why us people dress the way we did. I asked if he was talking to me and he said I looked like a sailor not a pirate. He informed me of my lack of black and I had no skulls upon me. This is a true story I swear. I told him how rude it is to say something like that to another person and that after I eat my ice cream I was going to beat him till he understood. He apologized and asked why I was dressed as a sailor at a pirate fair. I told him to piss off and he did. Weird. The Rum Runners once again denied me entrance to the Rum runner camp so I'm giving up on ever getting to go inside and look out. Tony Swatton the famous Pirate movie blade maker/blacksmith punked me and didn't say hello back, so I'm no longer buying his swords and his status has been changed to stupid horse face. Our camp was fun but a little far away from the action, but we loved being down by the water. My back hurts from sleeping in the boat and there is a cool ranch dorito bag or soda can in every pic we took of the camp... All in all it was the greatest weekend ever and we had a great time seeing friends and enjoying a bit of rugged camping and can't wait till next year..If you have read to here, I'm proud of you and thanks in advance. Ransom
Great recap, Kenneth! But, in the story you gave Chain Shot and me, your retort to the rude bloke in the ice-cream line was a little more forceful...and x-rated...than piss off! What! you didn't retaliate for entry denial again this year by peeing on the Rum Runners enclosure? Or, maybe they heard about that from last year, and that's why you couldn't get in? And yeah, we had one of those pirate vampires chained himself to the tree just in front of Bang and Boom. We never could figure out what the hell he was doing. Half the time he was just laying down in the middle of the path. Then again, those vamps usually sleep during the day, so ... As for the kidnapping...like I said, Chain Shot thought of all kinds of kewl things he should have done, but didn't think of them until we were 200 miles north of Ojai. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. MadL
Ahoy Oderlesseye! I intend t' raid again this Saturday fer a second round. I caught rumor that Talderoy may make an appearance as well; Lycan was thar shoot'n he's 'Cannon' last week (see me MySpace photos). Oh, who be that BIG one that raided th' ship with us at Oceanside last year? Th' one what toss'd th' little one over th' side? I got some shots o' he'm see'n Capt'n Samuel Bellamy; twas quite funny, first we be stand'n thar watch'n as th' wee snipes each go up and get a gift from Bellamy when he leans over 'n says "Hey, I am think'n o' gett'n in line behind th' kids...." so I said "Ell ya! Do it mate, I will get some shots". I think he's girlfriend got it on video as well - it was a hoot, he play'd th' mute 'n dumb one So Damn Well! Th' whole encampment was in stitches when Bellamy coxed out o' him he's first, 'n Only word: "ARRRRRRRRRRHHHHhhhhh!" ~All skill be in vain if an angel pisses down th' barrel o' yer flintlock! So keep yer cutlass sharp, 'n keep her close!
Jacky Tar
Ojai is always fun. I spent time with the 'Tales o' the Seven Seas' bunch, on Saturday. Great people there, including: Red-Handed Jill, Jack, Gloria, Weezer, Chainshot, Iron Bess, and of course Ransom. Aye, they had a vampire pirate chained t' the tree in front o' their camp; he was funny, an belonged t' the camp next door... I sez the duck last year was a bigger crowd pleaser. Journeyed o'vr the river an through the woods t' Kenneth's camp (Kern Co. Privateers). Our east coast brethren would be proud o' this lot. They are truly the best at tryin' t' reenact Golden Age pirates; even if the locals here don't appreciate their efforts. Despite the vampires, fairies, goths, hot dogs (Aye, someone was dressed as a wiener), and vikings, the faire is a welcomed weekend spectacle. How did I miss the Spartan women? Ransom
The muggles might have thought it was a place they weren't meant to be, as on the opposite side, you had the fighting area, which was off limits. I doubt the guys in the Double Cross encampment got much traffic either, for the same reason. It really is a shame, as the Kern Co. encampment was so authentic in every way...okay, except for the Dorrito bags. LOL You guys did an awesome job, and should be rightfully proud of your accomplishment. And I agree, Ojai is sort of an "anything goes" event, which is all part of the fun. There was a Spartan woman? Oh, and after two days of "My eyes, my eyes" I'm going to make up a button for next year that reads, "Spoobage! Please, put that away!" ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you.
