Ahoy all,

The Daytona Crew has been practicing with African drums, drum circles and belly dancing and would like to set up in a small corner of the fort for some interactive fun. People would be free to join in either drumming, shakers, etc and belly dancing if they are brave enough. We have extra drums, shakers, bells etc. Children and adults love to join in and it would offer a way for onlookers and participants to come together for some fun. Any opinions, ideas or suggestions?

Fair winds and following seas,

Sounds interesting. Your best bet is to run it by Harry. He works for Fort Zach. Taylor and meets regularly (or maybe irregularly - it is Key West) with the Bone Island Buccaneers to organize the event. You can contact him through his user profile:

Thanks,

You're right, it is fun. I just explained what I wanted to do to my belly dance instructor last night and she said that it would be great. It really is fun when everyone blends together to either play along or dance. The energy is awesome. We'll make it work no matter where we are. Thanks again for the encouragement. Hope you will join in.

I will most definately join in :) I was involved in quite a few at work and always enjoyed them. I'm sure a drum circle around the camp fire would be an awesome experience. More to look forward to.

The drum circle could also draw more visitors out there. They would be able to hear it from the parking lot and from the top of the fort, drawing their attention toward the camp.

Hurricane,

I'm liking the idea of the campground more and more. Honestly, last year was our first year at PIP and because we were staying at Boyds in an RV we thought the campground was very cool but I almost felt like we were intruding on the privacy of the campers out there if we were to walk around. We weren't really aware that it part of the experience. You're right, a group drum circle would draw people over and then they could explore the campsites once we got them in. I'll talk to the group tonight at our circle.
