Just a few thoughts on the event in NC.

IT WAS A GREAT TIME FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Between crowds that seemed truly interested i and wanted to interact with both pyrates and history and the fun that the crews had in interacting with them. Even in the early morning hours the public started to pass through the camps to see what the pirates were doing at the moment. The invasion itself seemed to be a huge success and pictures will be posted as people are able... least i hope so . Callenish and meself will post what we have when we get home.

The crews did a grand job with all of the interaction between five differnt crews and 100 + pirates seemed to be flawless, there were a few, but the event went on so well that it seemed to be as such. The battles and sceneroius involved alit of work for all involved but made the crowds step into and be invoved with what was happening all weekend. The invasion, milita vs pirates battles, trial and hanging. a bout of flogging ( anyone have pics of that????), and the living history aspectswere fantastic.

I think the crews and pirates have found a wonderful way to carry out the histories and the re enACTing with the public. It was alot of fun for all involved and wanted to say Thank you and here's to another chance at doing this again :(:(B)

Apart from the public we pirates had our fun as well, there were evenings of shanty sing alongs, a ball, and a moonlight cruise. Many musiancs brought thier talents and songs to the sings, the ball that was a wonderful effort on the part of the maritime museum allowing the party continue . the same night was the chance to take a moonlight cruise, lets us say maDogg put a turtle to shame for a little while but came out unharmed and dry. Besides it was the wall's fault, and both were grand tymes.

A heartfelt thank you to the event organizers and participants for making the event fantastic.

B]the event went great except for the one misadventure that happened to Captain Sinbad's first mate who was injured during the sea battle ...I'm sure that the entire pub will want to keep her in our prayers ....the North Carolina Black Flagger's and the Devilmen of Cape Fear, Blackbeard's Crew and the Archangel crew also the Shadow Players with the efforts of Sinbad and the crew of the Meka II worked so well together that the crowds were thrilled and spent the day following the exploits of what we were doing ....most of the scenarios were highly ad-libed but they were very well received by the audience ....hopefully we'll get pictures on here soon if some of Blackbeards crew send the pics... of the efforts I took to whip some sense into Dutch (if it is possible!!! :(:(B)B) ) we want to get all the picture Madame grace wasn't too pleased with the lesson but Dutch and I had a great time with the preformance and the crowd's reaction (and the reactions of the other pirates who witnessed the show)

we're having a wee bit of car trouble on the way home so we're sitting in a motel in NC while we wait for a garage to open on Monday morn to get the car running and back on the road!!! NO Salty isn't going into labour yet!!![/b] B)B)B)B)

I REALLY wished I took today off...just to sleep in and unpack...and of course, post updates and photos!

Well...I would have had more pictures had I not broken my camera in the simulated Cat-Fight between me and Grace of the Blackbeard’s Crew, but will post what I have as soon as I can.

Dutchie,

Please let your woman know she left marks! I had a ton of explaining to do this morning!

I am glad to hear that everyone who’s chimed in thus far has gotten home safely and had a wonderful time.

More to follow…need to get back to work (&@#!)

Hubby and I finally made it home safely this evening as well, and have sent M.A. d'Dogge on his way home....we're exhausted, and we smell funny....

And just wait till you hear of the Misadventures of M.A. d'Dogge and Rats (or Rats and M.A. d'Dogge)...

Pictures yet to come.

notes on battle from the safety officers perspective

shovels and frying pans are considered weapons therefore must be green tagged before use in the field of battle.

shoes are considered concealed weapons- by the way nice head shot grace.

wenches do not appreciate being carried away.

cheeky wields a hefty spoon.

captured pyrates try to escape at all costs.

one unnamed person has an ability to make a weapon- any weapon they touch go "pfffft" instead of bang.

Next time I'm bringing my own buss!

Also... the links didn't work for the videos.... And what pic did I make it into??

Aye, was not happy with the guns AT ALL....Mike said he had to re-seat my flint but the buss still wouldn't work until I got it to flash in the pan. Which was the weirdest thing as it seemed to be burning in slow motion. I have never seen powder react that way. He said it worked much better after that... so I reckon it was the oil in the barrel because I forgot to tell him to swab it out before the first shot.. I just assumed he would know to do so... so my bad. I have never had a problem with my buss until the flint chipped but that was fixed at Hampton...

What powder was everyone using?

over all still a grand time. every one did well and a respectable performance was laid out only to be topped next year. Ya know if we all keep working together this well and often- someday we might get good at this. ohhh scarry thought

i think a lot of us made either the paper or video streams. willoughby has posted a lot of battle footage on youtube so check that out as well.

on the plus side, the saucey wench banners found a new home and will fly proudly over the tent. a flogging team was created with many horrors of the crowd. ants can be a nutritious source of food. we all had fun!

Well bad powder, oil or not, ( and this would be my fault) I want to say thanks to my angels for all their hard work, as usual. You not only work hard during the scenarios but you play hard the rest of the time as well... damn but you looked a million times better than the real dummies in the museum...and falling off the docks on the ground wellllll what can I say...(and do I really want to say anything?

Do I really want to admit that the drunk pirate...oops sorry not pirate but landsman...marine....that did so was not really drunk and was one of mine?? Do I Maddogge? And the bloody fact that I MISSED IT!!! Hmmm)

A hearty thank you to Blackbeard's crew and the others, as always it was a treat to work with you all. I also want to say thank you to all the event organizers, they put on a great show, and really took fantastic care of all of us, from the gigs and their crews to all the vendors who supplied the meals. Captain Sinbad was a terrific host and a pleasure to swing for.

It was a tad nerve racking about the hanging, but I am glad we were able to go forward with it for the Beaufort folks and the screaming crowds... the flogging was a great extra thanks to Callenish and Dutchie (who liked it all too much and went back for seconds, not to mention Dutchie, looking completely insane when the crowds shouted "hang him" ...must have been that ear to ear grin on his filthy gob, yeah he looked worried about his future)

sikie- not sure. this was a revival of a past event. they need to recover from the first i believe.

ummm---was it that obvious that i was enjoying the heck out of meself. sorry- i'll try to control my enthusiasm next time. although i do have to say that more than one crew member came running over to check on me after it was over only to be mad because gunner and i were doubled over laughing at ourselves.

Yes I loved the flickin' flogging! B) You really made it work Dutchy! B)

Let's face it, with a fella like Callendish behind the cat... if you handn't reacted and worked the crowd like you did... ?? Needless to say it was perfect!! B)

I'm putting together some suggestions and ideas for next year, which I will hold until the dust settles and will send through the Captain and the proper chain of command to help plan ahead.

And to think this was just the 1st year.... expect double next year!!! And it simply has to be a 2 day event!!!

JMHO ;)

Must agree with Rats... a two day event plus the half day of Friday would be really nice...

No rules against hanging and torture at Hampton, I see.

Wow, Leigh! Your hair looks really cool in those photos!

Sounds like trouble my dear.... B)

Can't wait to see em!

Now you guys need to put the info for the "Ohio Santa Raid" together B)

Damn straight Rats,

Any excuse to get M.A. d'Dogge and Rats... I mean Rats and M.A. d'Dogge together again... Which order is that supposed to be in? B)

I should be able to offload the pictures on the wifs camera this afternoon and get those shared out... Most are from the festival, but she did take quite a few during our extra-carricular photo shoots as well.
