I can walk to get a drink of water or scratch my nose by myself.. life isnt that bad. A bit lonely but I have the best friends a pirate could EVER want.. Merrydeath Posted June 20, 2008 Author Share Posted June 20, 2008 I just wanted to pop in before bedtime. I went to work today and it was a bit rough and tiring, but I did pretty good. (tough pirate lass!) The swelling is down and I'm still very bruised but I'm getting around ok. I"ll be doing the relay for life this weekend, and I might add that the Fools Gold pirates got donations of $125 at Port Washington in one day. I'm very impressed and inspired by this, since the leading contributer at my work only got $250 total and she had a month. WAY TO GO FOOLS GOLD PIRATES!! and thank you, Port Wash, for letting me take donations at the tent. 1 in 8 women in Iowa will have breast cancer this year. I have a dream that there will be a 100% cure in my lifetime. I can have the donations stay here from the donations, to help with mammograms, tests, hotel rooms, and much more for Breast Cancer patients. I'm going to start the Fools Gold team, that will make the ribbons and beads and help sell the buttons renfairepirate is making.. I hope to get a few bought and then sell them at the renfaires and online. I'll see about getting permission from the ACS for this, AND just did the RELAY for LIFE, and it was sad and inspiring.. so many who died from cancer, but also so many who still fight the Beast.. I know one lass who had a small lump removed after demanding a second opinion, then had a double mastecomy after they didnt get enough the first time. Then Chemo 2x.. makes me want to shoot someone and hope they found it all on me. anyway, I'll try to take my desktop PC with me when I go for treatments to keep up to date. If not, I'll try to log in once in a while to let you know.. and Mary, you are a delight and a classic, like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.. your smiling face makes everyone smile. I might join a clinical study for the drugs I will take later up here. If all goes as planned, I'll have the tube put in July 3 at 11 am here, and then go down for a cat scan to make sure its ok after. Then July 7th I'll start my radiation. That means I will have a small tube in my left side that I CANNOT get wet for 10 days. Be careful in the tub, wash my hair in the sink or got out to a salon.. and no hot tub/ swimming. Here is a brief comment about my last week: I have work insurance called E, and that started June1. I can buy COBRA from my exes insurance but it has to be by July30 and costs $400/ month..( continues of my exes' old insurance) but will cover most things. I made about 20 calls to the insurances and work last Thursday. And the doctors cancelled my radiation 30 minutes before I was supposed have it.. and now I'm not sure when things will continue. thanks for the good thoughts!
