Have you've searched the Seven Seas for a period correct wig for the Golden Age of Pyracy, but couldn't find 'exactly' what you wanted.

Well...your search is over!

Chez Michel (aka Mike Kaplan) has been reenacting for over 25 years and now started to apply his talent, knowledge, and skills in to making period correct wigs for reenactors.

18th Century wig with que and velvet bag.

Chez Michel specializes in late 17th century to late 18th century wigs. His custom fit wigs go to every length to provide exactly what you are looking from. He can match the wig to your hair colour (or not if you fancy something else), fit it perfectly to your size head, and style it to the proper time period.

Here is just an example of one of his creations:

Here we have the lovely Annie Metz Faulkner (Turkey Roost Traders) showing off her lovely medium brown mid-18th century wig.

Please forgive me for the quality of the pictures

Will post additional wigs for men and women once I optain photos

For those of you who would like additional information regarding prices and ordering - Please PM me - I'll be happy to help you out!

As an interested party, and one who comes in contact with many other interested parties throughout this wonderful place called the internet, while Chez Michel has a great product, I believe his sales must be severely hampered by his lack of web presence.

True, Blackjohn. I am trying to obtain a email address from Mike as we speak!

I hope to have a 21st century form of communication soon.

Also, my scanner blew a bulb...I need to scan the new wigs he has for sale...perhaps tomorrow.

It would be nice if Pinky would get himself a webpage, but since he has been bucking such a thing for years now... Don't count on it happening any time soon...ie don't hold yer breath.

Ooooo... B)

Very nice, Cheeky!

Aye, do let me know! I'd like to put his name and link up on my website (when I get the bloody thing working properly).

But I'm droolin' over th' wig for the ladies. Better than attempting something drastic with my bland, straight, uncooperative hair!

For those who wish to talk with Mike Kaplan (aka Chez Michel) about your custom, haute couture period wig - give him a call at

1-800-458-8040 (Ymittos Candle Manufacturing Co, Inc.) and ask for Mike Kaplan. He will be happy to discuss all possibilities with you.

If you MUST contact him via email...

Merkinperuke@aol.com - but please no pictures or attachments. Mike has issues with his vintage land-line system...and it takes hours to down load.

Thank you.

P.S. (my apologies for the email name)! :PB)

No she isn't .... that's Pinky to a "T". The only bit she's joking about is feigning being upset by the term merkin.
