the Royaliste Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 'e be welcome, mate...And a 'stop on by' has always been an invatation to any 'Pubsters', (not the general public, mind you..we do discriminate, as properly attired pyrates have always had 'special priveleges' aboard Privateer Royaliste)..That goes for any Pubsters in any port we visit..If'n it be hot, or whatever, be 'e in your kit, c'mon up to the front of the line and 'speak up', eh??...those not in costume, sorry, but the end of the line is waaay back there....
Cheeky Actress Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 What a most gracious offer. We look forward to meeting up with you! Cheeky Member of "The Forsaken"
the Royaliste Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Aye, it be RR pleasure, and basically, part of the purpose of Privateer! (our not for profit cover). Don't get me wrong, instilling some imagination in young and old alike is our number one function. But that said, it's the folks like us who like to play and 'dress funny' that are our 'cheering section', rooting and supporting us 'spiritually' if you will....(as if bloody pirates have any spiritualism!!)..so we always return the favor. We've only had one or two times where some citizen complains.....and those are the ones we explain the fine art of keelhauling..
TheBlackFox Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 the fine art of keelhauling.. ahhhhhh nothing better exfoliation of the skin as those barnacles on the lower third of the hull. . . damn if it don't feel good. . .uh. . .after you wake up from the coma and the bleedin' stops. . . . but damn it feels good after that. Luffa are for wusses, mate.
Capt. Sterling Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 If ye wake up.... Hurricane when are ye and yours dropping anchor? hurricane Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 We are awaiting word for Sulley to firm up plans. It looks ideally like we will be at anchor by Friday morning, stay through Sunday then head out to Williamsburg while we're there for Monday before heading home. It's about 14 hours from here and we will be picking up Sulley in Savannah on the way. We found really good hotel deals on hotwire.com so we're slotting one of those in for the dates as we speak. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. hurricane Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 We are all set Captain. Diosa, Sully and I will be arriving on Thursday evening so we'll be all set to roll for the three days. We pull up anchor Monday morning and head to Williamsburg for a brief visit before heading south to the Floridas again. We look forward to seeing you all again and my old friend Ben Cherry, who've I sailed with now and again for some 20 years now. Capt. Sterling Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Ah good to know.... we should be arriving on Friday. Cheeky, the snotties and I are so far scheduled for an appearance at school on Friday morning... Cheeky wants to teach them period dancing...(trying NOT to laugh here, I can just see them all looking at her like she's lost her mind!) The rest of the southern contingent of the crew is currently debating on if they plan to join us as that will require an extra day off from work and tad bit more driving. If they do not attend the school event, they will be arriving sometime Friday and I will most likely be pulling in at "break neck speed" so Cheeky is not too late for the ball.... hurricane Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Doesn't she know how that scars kids? Capt. Sterling Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Scars kids? Scars me... been going over the menuet all night... bloody half Coupees.... not to mention forward honours and side honours ... although I did find an original reference, close but just a tad late (1728) with illustrations, that does show one does not bend both knees when bowing...only the trailing leg.... As to the ball...the first year we attended was a grand time... and now tis in the Air and Space Museum... I don't know how much of the museum is open to wander around in, but the main hall alone has some nice pieces, at least it used to... and the ladies have so much fun... the music was good and the food was a treat as well... and the VA socialites that attend... well they are rare treat all in themselves...**wicked grin** quite the entertainment they be... Silkie McDonough Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Goode Captain Sterling, would you kindly teach me to dance when we next see each other? I would hate to look a fool at the ball!
Capt. Sterling Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 ahem.... Menuet is Cheeky's department along with the other social dances.... Although Young Mr. Merriweather can teach ye a mean Viriginia Reel... I need to date that dance although I know of three historic sites that swear it is suited to our time frame... The only thing I can teach ye is how to look a fool upon the dance floor... Hurricane, I must admit that the year the good Captain and I went it was held at the Hampton History Museum. A much smaller venue, but very worth while. We met so many good natured individuals...and some farmilar faces too! Captain Sterling won a "Major Award" that evening too! (Ask me about scaring children again once you find out when he won the award for!) It is well worth the fee....a grand time of it! Silkie...I shall teach you what you fancy! Reel, Jig, or menuet. hurricane Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I must confess to doing a great jig on deck with a belly full of rum and a tossing sea, but it usually ends up with my head over the rail. So much for having any sense of rhythm. It looks like we must put the ball on our social schedule. Hell, I may actually have to bathe for the evening. Damned society events.
