William Brand Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Because it is never too early... This list is provided as a roll call throughout the year to gage the number of attendees who are staying inside and outside the Fort Zachary Taylor Historical Park at PIP 2008. The attendees will be listed by camp (period or modern) or hotel. Attendees may be a part of any encampment without camping inside the park and interaction during the festival is not limited to camping arrangements. The list merely reflects names and sleeping arrangments of attendees and the list will be updated towards the end of the year with a "confirmed" status for those attendees who have secured their transportation to and from the event. There are many period camps under the pines and palms along the beach. There is also period camping inside the fort in the 1680 Port Royal Buccaneer Camp, the Red Coat Camp and the Sutler Camp, as well as modern camping and hotels. We would like everyone to sound off as often as they can with updates on when, where and how they will be attending PIP 2008. If you do not know where you will be staying, you may still be posted to this tentative list. Please send me names, tents, hotels, encampment information, etc. For information on the period camps or other arrangements, please see the other threads in the Pirates in Paradise forum, or post your questions here. Misson Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Mission, barber-surgeon, Mercury, period, comma, question-mark and out. Leaning towards a hotel...or a multi-bedroomed house if there are several people interested. (Preferably in the Truman Annex...well, I can dream, can't I?) I wouldn't mind setting up thing like Patrick had, just to try it for one night, though. Patrick Hand Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I'm going again.... it will make my fifth year...... Campin' next to the beach.... in Key West..... a fifth O' PiP...... wot more could ye ask fer.....
hurricane Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 The 1681 Port Royal Encampment has already reserved a place for our Catt & Fiddle Tavern and mercantile for the coming year. We'll be redecorating a bit since a year has past and the rogues have broken up some of the furniture and made away with some of the fine rum punch we all imbibed in. We'll be gambling again (period games like Passage and Bankafalet as well as new ones), drinking and storytelling in a newly remodeled tavern on the corner of Thames and Lime in lovely Port Royal. Confirmed are: Hurricane Diosa (aka Mary Read) Bootleg Red Handed Jill (ours) Youngblood Oryginal Cinn Touche Master Studley Animal Sheila Mizzen Willie Wobble I will also be trying to bribe Water Rat to fly in from Oregon, my pirate friend for 26 years and a pirate hisself for 60. May have a few newbies in tow as well some familiar old faces by then. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Capt. Sterling Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Archangel Crewe I and the snotties will be there come hell or high water... And I bet I can vouch for Tiger Bill, the Diamonds and Maddogge, Amanjiria's clan.. We will just have to kidnap Cheeky this year and somehow I promise to drag Silkie down there as well!!! Kicking and screaming if I have to... "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... Lily Alexander Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Edward and I are definitely in. Although I'm not sure where we are staying. We've been considering getting a tent and camping although the house idea has potential too. If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/
Capt. Sterling Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 You know it might be worth looking into a time share down there... Big Sis managed to find a beautiful one in Williamsburg... three bedroom, two huge baths for $300. for the week... aye I know tis Key West but you never know...if enough people kick in.... Misson Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Without doing a lot of research (I picked Truman's Annex because it is as close as you can get to the event, which I think would be a big plus): http://www.rentmyparadise.com/CHPics.htm That particular would wind up being $400 + tax (probably about $50 or so) per bedroom for the week (they say it sleeps 8, but that must be with people on the couch and whatnot). "I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.” -Oscar Wilde "If we all worked on the assumption that what is accepted is really true, there would be little hope of advance." -Orville Wright
Capt. Sterling Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Only four hundred for the week? Wow, I'm in... of course I will be camping but just for the shower or if needed...well worth the price... Lily Alexander Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Are you sure about the price??? That doesn't seem possible to be that cheap. Edit: I sent a message to get the brochure and more info. If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/
'Bastian Devareaux Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I have to agree with Lily. Prices for lodging in general tend to go up in Key West during any festival / event. You may wish to verify that pricing holding true during PIP. It is time to pause, even so early, for this account is not intended to be about my life...but is, as I have said, about my life's secrets. Secrecy is intrinsic to my work. ~ Christopher Priest “Five and Twenty Ponies, Trotting thru’ the Dark. Brandy for the Parson, 'Baccy for the Clerk. Laces for a Lady, Letters for a Spy.Watch the wall my darling; While the Gentlemen go by.”~Rudyard Kipling
Misson Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Here is the price list: http://www.rentmyparadise.com/kwrates.htm Low season at these places is thru mid December which easily covers PiP. However, further reading proves that the other house I linked to (which is indeed a $1200 per week 3/3) is located at mile marker 5. IE - off island. So scrap that idea. There is a house that is actually in Truman Annex that rents for $2200 per week (which is about right from past experience) here: http://www.rentmyparadise.com/502.htm This is also a 3/3 with a sleeper sofa in the "den" making for a 4th possible rental. (I dunno about anyone else, but I wouldn't want to spend a week on a sleeper sofa - call me a soft pirate.) Still, @ 3 rooms, you wind up at $733.33 for the week. @4, it would be $550. FLA tax on rooms used to be 11%, although I don't know if that's changed. As I said, I'm only glancing at these things to gage pricing. Of course, you get no maid service when you rent a house, so if that matters to you... You do, however, get a kitchen, FWIW. Lily Alexander Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 It's a great idea and definitely worth looking into further. Ya did good my friend. If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/
Capt. Sterling Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I heartily agree! I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
Captain Jim Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Dammit, man! Why is my name not automatically on that thar list? Ohyou want a big ol "x" do ye? X How about that, Eh? Oh, yeah, add two more for the wench and the swab: X X The swab and I will be staying in a tent. The Wench (aka SWIMBO, She Who Must Be Obeyed) may be staying in a hotel. Doesn't sound like much fun to me, though. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...
Iron Jon Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Paula and I will also be there next year but with a bigger tent and some of my woodworking stuff to set up. I have a bow lathe and a shave horse I can bring and maybe turn out a few belaying pins and such if there's an interest in it. Also concerning the rentals in Key West. I rented a 2/2 in Truman Annex (the last house on Southard) during August and September and the price wasn't too bad. You get a little better deal when you rent for a longer term but it still came out to about $115 a day. Jonathan Washbourne "Jonathan Washbourne Junr of Bridgwater appeared in court and was ordered to pay £5 fees and charges or be publicly whipped 20 stripes for his abusive and uncivil behaviour to Elizabeth Canaday Late of said Bridgwater by Thrusting up or putting of a skunk under the Cloaths to her Naked Body And then saying he had Done the office of a midwife." (from The Plymouth Journal, July 1701)
Lily Alexander Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I'm sure Edward is going to be mighty interested in your set up Iron Jon. I may have to hate you for it later though. If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/

Silkie McDonough Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Well ...you can list me with the Arch Angel but honestly ...I will be running the "ordinary" and more likely to side with the Mercury (Arch Angel being British, William being on the and me being Irish, part of my characters history) but I get business from both ...so just call me Switzerland.
