Coastie04 Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 I just found out that I'll be spending some time in Portsmouth, VA this year and was wondering if anyone who knows the area can guide me to some tall ships nearby. In a quick search of schoonerman.com, I found a couple in Norfolk, the Norfolk Rebel and the American Rover. Also, I found the site for the schooner Virginia, currently under construction. Are there any others??? capnwilliam Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 If you are interest in the Elizabethan period, Roanoke NC has a full-scale replica of a vessel they call the Elizabeth II; a sort of typical-model of a type of vessel that would have traveled to the Hatteras colony in the 1580's. Coastie04 Posted April 27, 2003 Author Posted April 27, 2003 Thank you, Capt. I'll have to try and get over there sometime. As of right now, I don't really know what my exact schedule will be, but if I have enough time, I'll definitely have to check that out. I be interested in any tall ships from any time period.
