Hester
[Okay, I know there used to be a thread about this, but I can't find it, even with the Search function. So, if a mod knows where the old thread went to and wants to merge them, that would be terrific.] Yesterday, in Chapters, I picked up a hard-cover copy of Jimmy Buffet's recent novel, A Salty Piece of Land, on sale for $7. (I love the remainders table!) ... and then I had to run out to the liquor store and get a 6-pack of Corona to go with it.

BriarRose Kildare
I was downstairs in our library the other day when I discovered a few books I forgot I had. White Roses, stories of Civil War nurses and When a Rose is not a Rose, women who fought in the Civil War, both by Rebecca D. Larson. I just started reading them. The other book I just started recently reading is By Force of Arms by James L. Nelson. Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. The Dimension of Time is only a doorway to open. A Time Traveler I am and a Lover of Delights whatever they may be. There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls.

BriarRose Kildare
Okay...I am still reading the biography on "Dickens". It is a fairly large book and I am taking my time with it. I am also reading a suspense mystery thriller "Most Likely to Die" I just recently picked up the "Celestine Prophecy" to re-read it. Ihave the whole set of books by James Redfield. Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. The Dimension of Time is only a doorway to open. Ransom
The Darwin Conspiracy by John Darnton Very good. A combination of historical fiction, a long lost diary, and...a mystery. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... 'Bastian Devareaux
I recently finished Ireland , by Frank Delaney and am awaiting my copy of Tipperary from Amazon.com. Thoroughly enjoyed the first book and am champing at the bit to have the other one in my greedy little clutches. In the mean time, I am indulging in Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and have found it truly wonderful, thus far. It is time to pause, even so early, for this account is not intended to be about my life...but is, as I have said, about my life's secrets. Secrecy is intrinsic to my work. ~ Christopher Priest “Five and Twenty Ponies, Trotting thru’ the Dark. Brandy for the Parson, 'Baccy for the Clerk. Ransom
Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton — The Secret Agent Who Made The Pilgrimage To Mecca, Discovered The Kama Sutra, And Brought The Arabian Knights To The West. By Edward Rice. I'm only on page 75, of 483, but it's already a "can't hardly put it down" read. VERY facinating character, is Sir Richard. I highly recommend the book, if you can find it. I came across it at my favorite used book store, and got it for only $5.00. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... BriarRose Kildare
I am still reading the biography on Dickens. It is a very good book, but is a slow read since there is so much information. Celtic Warrior
"The Republic of Pirates" by Colin Woodard. Captain Midnight
Right now I'm reading "The Deerslayer" by James Fenimore Cooper, part of the chronicles of the life of Natty Bumppo, the character more famously known as "Hawkeye" from "The Last of the Mohicans". The various books are collectively known as the "Leatherstocking Tales". Excellent reading! "Now then, me bullies! Would you rather do the gallows dance, and hang in chains 'til the crows pluck your eyes from your rotten skulls? Or would you feel the roll of a stout ship beneath your feet again?" ---Captain William Kidd--- (1945)
