Does anyone have any ideas of book on the subjects or perhaps anyone that presented any articials on the subject matter online,,,,

Well this is a huge list, but if it doesn't yield exactly what you want, it will doubtless tempt you to many other nautical publications.

I found that "Seafaring Lore & Legend by Peter Jeans" was a great read.
