Silent Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 NOTE: I didn't know if I should post this here or Pirate Pop so please move if need be So I was at the game store today looking for a game my friends and I can enjoy every weekend night and I found the game Dread Pirate. To my dismay the box it comes in is wrapped shut and it didn't tell you what the game was really about and nor does the website (www.frontporchclassics.com) I was hoping if any of you have it and or played it could give me the low down because the booty on this game is a little much ($99USD for the special ed or $49 for the normal) and if I'm going to spend that much booty on a table top game I'd like to know what the pros and cons are of it. Thanks mates fer any help ye be givin me on this.
Abrams Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Well, not really sure what you want to know, but I must say it's a mighty fun game -- easy to learn the basic rules, too. I've got the heart of a pirate, just not the garb...
The Doctor Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Join the ranks of the addicted, mate. Buy the game. Yo ho ho! Or does nobody actually say that?
Silent Posted June 23, 2007 Author Posted June 23, 2007 What I want to know if how is the game played before I buy it
Patrick Hand Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 I haven't played it... but a few years ago, they were playing it at PiP (Pyrates in Paridise)..... and everyone playing it looked like they were having a great time....
Shipwreck John Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 a quick rundown... there are a couple of variations....depending on what you do but the idea is to get all the treasure.. or as much as possible... there are four ports and a pirate island called Dread Island. each port has a different colored jewl. You have to get one of each jewl before sailing to dread island. the first one to get there is then called the dread pirate and the title can only be taken away in a battle that has been lost. that about sums it up without getting really into detail. I have played it a time or two and it's a blast Shipwreck Adventurer of Independent Means TALL SAILS AND MERMAIDS TAILS, THIS BE THE LIFE FOR ME "THEM THAT DIE WILL BE THE LUCKY ONES"
Capt. Lazarus Gage Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Agreed, well worth the $50 dollars. I would stick with the Bookshelf edition (the $50 one) also, the only difference between it and the classic edition of Dread Pirate is the chest it comes in.
Silent Posted June 23, 2007 Author Posted June 23, 2007 Thank you so much, Im gonna have to go pick it up now
HildeKitten Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 I'm definitely going to get it when I've saved up the money. Sadly it's a LOT more expensive over here. Especially the bookshelf edition, so I'm likely going to have to go with the normal one House of Secrets Incorporated Fashion and costume design For all your piracy needs
