HildeKitten Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I've recently busted my bucket boots to the point that if I dare wearing them, my feet will be covered in blisters within half an hour. So I need a new pair. I'd like to get some in the style of these preferably: http://www.piratemerch.com/pirate-boots-ma...ther-p-328.html The problem, however is, that I have small feet. I have a US women's 7, which makes it next to impossible to find bucket boots. I don't want to get a pair of the typical women's pirate boot, because I personally don't like how they look and I can't walk in heels. I'm half tempted to just get an oversized men's pair and stuff some left over fabric down the boot to sort of compensate for the oversizedness, but I'd rather get a pair in my size So if anyone could point me in the direction of affordable bucket boots in black, preferably in the style of those in the link, I'd be much obliged :) Hilde House of Secrets Incorporated Fashion and costume design For all your piracy needs
Kenneth Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 you might try.. http://www.caboots.com/category/mp/ "Without caffine, I'd have no personality at all"
HildeKitten Posted June 17, 2007 Author Posted June 17, 2007 Thanks for the link Kenneth, but I already knew that site. I did google for them, and I think I've seen all the usual suspects page wise. The thing is, I need _affordable_ boots. And while I'd love to get a black pair of Jack Sparrow replica boots, they're sadly way out of my price range I can't afford to spend more than $ 120 atm. I know that seems rather low, but I have to take the (high) shipping cost to Belgium into account and the fact that customs will probably seize my boots and make me pay ransom to get them (so a $ 120 pair will easily end up costing me about € 150 ><). I would just wait 'till I had more money, but I need them rather soon House of Secrets Incorporated Fashion and costume design For all your piracy needs
michaelsbagley Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 How about these? http://www.experienceshoes.com/cavalierboots.html Experience Shoes Or http://www.scaboots.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=100 SCA Boots A search on "Cavalier Boots" found me the above two links.... I am not sure if you have seen these or not, or what you are using to search, but using different terms might help in your search (maybe try "pirate boots" if "bucket boots" is the only search you have done). The SCA boots are only $80 US, so they should be well within your affordable range. Hope this has helped.

Thank you :) I hadn't run a search on cavalier boots yet, I have searched on "pirate boots", "bucket boots" and "musketeer boots" before. I hadn't even thought of searching for cavalier boots, thanks for the tip. House of Secrets Incorporated Fashion and costume design For all your piracy needs
Gentleman of Fortune Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 You have probably already tried this... but it might be worth checking. Women size US 7 is like... European 37.5/38 ? http://tinyurl.com/3cql6e Greg aka GOF Come aboard my pirate re-enacting site http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/ Where you will find lots of information on building your authentic Pirate Impression!
HildeKitten Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 Yup, checked eBay, thanks for the suggestion though Greg. I think I'm going to wait 'till Pirate Merch has those black bucket boots back in stock in a men's 8 US 8 is about that size yeah, closer to a 39 I think. It all depends of the brand really, I usually have a 38, but in some brands I have a 37 and in others a 39. Kenneth Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I looked around some more....kinda hard to find inexpensive boots. If you're wearing them often, maybe you should invest in a better quality pair of boots? "Without caffine, I'd have no personality at all"
Capt. Lazarus Gage Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I payed between 350 and 400 for my custom boots from CA Boots, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. BUT I had some problems with them as well. I have fairly large calves and explained this to them when I purchased my boots and gave them the specific size in inches my boots would need to be so I could wear them but it still took them three times sending boots back and forth from texas until they finally sent me a pair I can wear (and they are still a little tight, but are breaking in quite nicely). That said, they were always very nice and very courteous to me (and I can be quite a pain in the ass when I am waiting on something I want). All of THAT said.....if you don't have the money you don't have the money, but it pays to save for the good stuff. -Gage
Kenneth Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I have fairly large calves and explained this to them when I purchased my boots and gave them the specific size in inches my boots would need to be so I could wear them Did you buy the ones that tie up the back?? I bought the Turner boots and the Barbossa boots from CA Boots. The Turner boots are perfect and fit well, but I had a horrible time getting my calves through the Barbossa's..I used mink oil and then stretched them at the top. They were on sale for $150 each and they were this maroon color I guess nobody wanted so I dyed them dark brown and then wore them whenever I welded or did yard work.....oh they look beat! That was like 4 years ago. I noticed the price would go up when the movies would be coming out..They are very worth the money. Now I'm on to buckle shoes. Capt. Lazarus Gage Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 No, I didn't buy the ones that tied up the back, I purchased the custom big bell swashbucklers.

If you're wearing them often, maybe you should invest in a better quality pair of boots? In theory yeah, but I'm kind of averse to paying hundreds of dollars to a boot that isn't even nearly my size. (that and I shamefully admit that I love the look of that Maverick boot from pirate merch, why oh why does no boot like that come in my size? ) House of Secrets Incorporated Fashion and costume design For all your piracy needs

Ive had really good luck with my boots from SCA boots, especially given the low cost, they're comfortable and have worn really well. The main problem I have with those is that I don't really like how they look. Heels are out, because I'd simply fall flat on my face (couldn't walk in heels if my life depended on it) and I don't really like the look of the second pair. I'm just too picky I'm sure But I have this idea in my head about what kind of boot I like and it would fit brilliantly with my outfits so I fear I've become stuck on it O_o House of Secrets Incorporated Fashion and costume design For all your piracy needs
