Capt. Sterling
Is the event still on? And who might be attending? Cheeky Actress
Here you go, Captain Sterling: I obtained this information from Black John's site. Capt. Sterling
Cool....give me a weeks notification...... Yah right..... I thought Lockhouse was in November,...... (or there abouts...) Pat, this thread has been up since June 11....more than ample time! Seriously though, there is another Lockhouse in November...weekend of the 3-4... Nov. is the one the crew of the Archangel is really aiming at. Unfortunately with gas prices the way they are this summer, and two big August events up in the northern midwest, moving 30 some odd folks over and down from the midwest for a one day event in July is really pushing it cost wise. Car pooling or not. Hopefully things will be a whole lot better in Nov.. still we are committed to the Nov. event. (AND hopefully things will be a whole lot better gas wise NEXT summer... it really is putting a damper on travel) It is also critical that we make the Nov. event as a pre-PiP practice... go over the hangings, swordplay, and tis when I am collecting all the tents, gear etc, of the rest of the crew, since I will be driving down from Virginia and they will be flying in... so if you can make both Lockhouse, then great.. if you can only make one... the Nov. might be your best bet for meeting lots of folks... either way, Blackjohn will treat ye right. He is a gem of a host. "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... Capt. Sterling
Yes thank ye Chole. well aware of that... also one of the event organizers is a member of the Archangel... so I get an earful both ways... blackjohn
I find myself slightly surprised to say this, but today's Lockhouse event was the best pirate event my group has ever done! More pirates than ever before, more govt forces than ever before, more public than ever before... a tremendous turnout by the public, in fact. The organizer estimated over 1000! Crikey! Because of the turnout, we did more battles than ever before. Four gunfights during the course of the day, in between those, fencing, fencing, fencing. And... I was so busy, I didn't find time to snap one single pic! Me... the shutterbug! Not one pic! But I think some other folks snapped a few. If I find any, I'll pass them along. And now, to bed. Hopefully it won't spin too much from the consumption of rum. ps - fwiw, during events I try to stick to the no camera rule, cameras being one of those things that "bursts the bubble." blackjohn
Over 1000. Seriously, it could have been less, I don't know. But I do know this, the number of spectators we had for any one battle this time around equaled the entire turnout from last time around. Fortunately, the site's manager snapped some good shots. blackjohn
Yes, and the weather will be nicer too. The weather wasn't too bad, considering it was 90ish with very low humidity. I did all but the final battle in full kit. For the last, I stripped down a bit. "Only two cartridges left? Better make them count!" blackjohn
No, you all travel quite aways, bringing yourselves is fine with me. Another pic from the final battle... we were ambushed by the militia on the way into town. After that, the scenario became a rolling gunfight. Hence, my only having two cartridges left. blackjohn
The Cecil County militia was this year played by the Baltimore Rangers, the Maritime Regiment of Foot, some Pirate Brethren turncoats, and was commanded brilliantly by Joe Marek of Merrick's Privateers.
