Longarm Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 The other day at Barns & Noble I noticed a new book about Bartholomew Roberts. I believe the title was "If I Must Be A Pirate" I don't remember the author. I was going to get it but I'ld already had my quota of books for that trip (man I hate budgets!!). Has anyone seen or read it? It was in the nonfiction world history section. I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning. To me it smells like....PIRACY!
PirateQueen Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 It's got glowing reviews at amazon.com. I'd get it just because Bart Roberts is probably my favorite historical pirate, and there aren't too many books out there about him. Fox Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 "If a Pirate I Must Be" has attracted some unfavourable reviews from experts, but I haven't read it myself so I can't comment. For those interested in Bart Roberts I can recommend Aubry Burl's "Black Barty". Foxe"With this Fore-Staff he fansies he does Wonders, when, God knows, it amounts to no more but only to solve that simple Question, Where are we? Which every chi'd in London can tell you." - Ned Ward The Wooden World Dissected, 1707ETFox.co.uk
Longarm Posted May 29, 2007 Author Posted May 29, 2007 My thanks to you both. I'm looking forward to picking it up as well as "Black Barty" if it's out there. If you read it before I do please let me know what you think. I already know how he meets his end so you won't be spoiling the ending for me. I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning. To me it smells like....PIRACY!
