A Nautical Renaissance

at the Port of Ilwaco

May 22-28, 2007

Make way for tall ships, pirates and all things nautical as the Port of Ilwaco comes to life with the 2007 Nautical Renaissance.

Tuesday, May 22nd

Historical Chinook Nation trade reenactment and blessing at Baker Bay. (Approximately 2 pm)

Festivities start at the Port with the 4 pm Grand Arrival of the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport tall ships, The Lady Washington & Hawaiian Chieftain. Free public dockside tours are offered to the public from 4-6 pm. Tribal drumming and singing by members of the Chinook Nation.

Wednesday, May 23rd

8:50 am Learn more about the tall ships on KMUN's ship report. Aired about ten minutes before 9 on FM 91.9

School Programs 9 - 3:30

Public dockside tours (by donation) are offered from 4-6 pm. Enjoy live music by the Redmond, WA Junior Symphonic Band as they serenade the crew of the tall ships.

Also, dine with Captains and Crew of the tall ships at this year's Sailor's Feast, a fundraising dinner. Enjoy live music by Matthew Moeller, Fisher Poetry by Geno Leech and special presentations by Captain Les Bolton of the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport and Ray Gardner, Chairman of the Chinook Nation.

7 pm at the Ilwaco Heritage Museum. Limited seating. Tickets available from Port restaurants and other local businesses. $15 Call Jennifer at the Port Bistro 642-8447

Thursday, May 24th

Friday, May 25th

Music by Mossyrock Jr/Sr High Concert/Pep Band

The Pirate Nightlife:

7-11 pm Piratical music by The Whistlin' Oysters at The Sea Hag Bar & Grill. Located in downtown Ilwaco 209 First Ave South.Just stumbling distance from the Port.

8 pm - Midnight at the Harbor Lights' Sea Pearl Lounge presents the Salty Dogs. Waterfront music, grog and fun!

3, 6 & 9 pm Disney's release of the 3rd movie in it's Pirate's of the Caribbean series. "At World's End" is playing at the "End of the World" - Neptune Theater in Long Beach, WA. 809 Boulevard S. 360/ 642-8888

* Black Diamond Pirates will be at Neptune Theater for the 6 pm show. Watch the movie with real pirates!

Saturday, May 26th

It'll be fun for all as the Port of Ilwaco comes to life with the Saturday Market, pirates & more!

At 10 am the Black Diamond Pirates will muster at the flagpole to raise their colors. You will hear the sound of black powder as the flag raises and the day's festivities officially begins.

10 - 1 Public Dockside Tours aboard the Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain. (by donation)

Find the Black Diamond pirates at their interactive encampment along Ilwaco's Waterfront Way, offering opportunities to "Fight with a Pirate", Children's "Dress Like a Pirate", storytelling and song and dance.

11 am The Lewis and Clark Memorial Park and Historical Garden. Dedication to those who made their living on the water and/or lost their life at sea. Ilwaco Heritage Museum Located in downtown Ilwaco at 115 SE Lake Street. 360/ 642-3446

At High Noon, hear the Budd Bay Buccaneers as they sing and dance their way through songs of sea and pirate chanteys. You will find them on their landlubbing pirate ship known as the "Banshee" docked on Waterfront Way across from the Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.

2 - 5 pm Tall Ships Battle Sail ($60, Reservations Required 1-800-200-LADY or inquire dockside)

2 pm Waikiki Summer Concert series kick-off at Cape Disappointment State Park. Music by the Budd Bay Buccaneers.

3 pm -"George Ramsay: From the stone age to the Civil War". Presented by Cape Disappointment interpreter Aaron Webster. A 30 min program about the fur trade era from the perspective of a native bar pilot. Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.

4 pm Astoria Toastmaster's Tall Tales Invitational. Stories for both young and old.Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.

5 pm Budd Bay Buccaneers Concert. Yo ho ho! Hear them play on the "Banshee", their lubbing ship docked on Waterfront Way across from the Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.

6-9 pm Pirate's Battle Sail ($60, Reservations Required 1-800-200-LADY or inquire dockside)

7 pm Shipwrecks, Sea Captains and Fisherman. Booksigning by author Joe Follansbee. At the Ilwaco Heritage Museum. 115 SE Lake Street. 360/ 642-3446

High Noon - Budd Bay Buccaneers concert. Enjoy their piratical musings aboard the "Banshee", their lubbing ship docked across from the Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.

Noon Children's Treasure Hunt registration at the Port of Ilwaco Pavilion. This year's treasure hunts will be divided by age groups. All participants must be registered by 12:30.

2-5 pm Battle Sail ($60, Reservations Required 1-800-200-LADY or inquire dockside)

3 pm Monsters of the Deep! An exploration of some of the giants of the Pacific, brought to you by Ranger Julie Tennis. An educational presentation for kids. Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.

4 pm "1792" A year rife with important maritime events in the Pacific Northwest. Presented by Cape Disappointment interpretive ranger, Roben Estes. Port of Ilwaco Pavilion.
