Caper Captain Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 When it finally comes out, which of ye good pirates is going to pick up a copy? Personally methinks that it looks like a right good game to while away the hours of free time that I have. I'm likin' the amount of customization that is offered; what I haven't heard yet is if the online play will be free or not. Though I am expecting to pay some heavy coin for it...as far as computer games go. Cheers, good pirates,
Bilgemunky Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I was excited about Pirates of the Burning Sea, but not so much anymore. They launched their PR campaign way too early, got everyone hyped up, and then fell silent with any worthwhile news. And now they finally announce a release date of next June?!? I'm sure to get excited again - it still promises to be a specactular game. But for now my interests are elsewhere, like Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales (aka Seadogs 3), which is due out later this month. Not multiplayer, but should be a worthy successor to Seadogs 1 (after Disney swooped in and mucked up Seadogs 2 last minute.) Yar. I AM BILGEMUNKY
Jib Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I saw the demo at Gen Con this past August and it looked great!
Gentleman of Fortune Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I'll echo the Bilge Monkey My excitment has peaked and fallen. Yes, I am sure its cool, but I am curious how those folks feed their kids. They have been working on this for YEARS!!! I know all games take time, but Its been far too long... and now they say next June. Ugghhh. Mr_Scabbs Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Actually, there are a lot of games coming out featuring pirates. One of them I'm kind of intrigued about is Captain Blood. As for Pirates of the Burning Sea, I'm kind of getting annoyed with all of the BETA testing they're doing...I want to play it already and make my crew! "I like nachos. Mermaid nachos." John_Young Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Yeah... check to see that we've discussed the living Frak out of something before you post about it again. John_Young Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Pirates ain't nice... and editing a post with "funny sayings" is pretty much not right on many counts "Yo Ho, all together hoist the colours high Heave Ho, theives and beggers Never shall we die..." Phillip Black Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Just a word o warning to Mr Scabbs, Bilgemunky and others, that Akella's Age of Pirates series uses Starforce copy protection...which may or may not damage your computer... People feel strongly enough about it to make whole boycott lists... And yeah...I agree with the sentiments that Burning Sea has sort of worn out it's welcome so to speak. Still, if I get a new computer that could handle the ridiculous requirements for that game, I'll definitely give it a whirl. Sea Captain: Yar, that be handsome pete, he dances on the pier for nickels! Sea Captain: Arrr... you gave him a quarter, he'll be dancin all day.
Miss Rosy Palm Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 John Young: Be Nice or I'll put funny little sayings in your posts. Leave him to me, Pearl. I'll just slap him around a bit, and I'm sure he'll be much more polite to Hilde in future.
LongTom Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Maybe I'm misssing something really obvious here, but it seems to me that the prospect that the game is (finally) coming out in a month is a reason for it to be interesting again. It does sound like quite an amazing, addictive time sink. I daren't even start. But it sure sounds fun!
Phillip Black Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 The game's release date was delayed again (was supposed to be this June)...apparently distribution problems... Although, they did just do a site redesign which is quite sharp, and the ship guide under the library is fantastic! Sigh...The only good I can see from the continued delays is that it gives me more time to get a new computer! Sea Captain: Yar, that be handsome pete, he dances on the pier for nickels!
