Matusalem Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Forgive me, since I'm not the organizer of the event, I'm just the messenger just trying to pass the word. Here's the link to the schedule of events. You can backlink from the site to get the overall gist of the event. http://www.piratewalk.com/piratefestschedule.htm I happen to stumble across the site when I was trying to get info about the White Horse Tavern http://www.whitehorsetavern.com, the oldest pub in the United States, started by a son of a famous pirate. Newport's a great town if you are a pirate at heart. Don't forget the Tall Ships event at the end of June. In either case, this is as close to the real deal as you can get.
Calypso Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 My cabin boy and I shall be in attendance. Fair winds, Calypso
Cheeky Actress Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I was in Newport, RI back in 2005 during All Hallow's Eve and met up with the producer/coordinator of this event, Eleyne Austen Sharp. A very nice woman whom made our Pyrate Group feel right at home. We took the Pyrate Tour and had a great tour guide, (gosh...I wish I got his real name for he kept us laughing and entertained for the whole tour). At the end of the tour we ended up at the White Horse Tavern for lunch. You should have seen the face of the Tavern manager when we told him we were the 'official' tunnel inspectors and we were here to make sure that everything was being properly taken care of! For those who don't know, The White Horse is said to have 'several' tunnels under its' foundation where Tew and others used the network of tunnels under the streets of Newport to smuggle and hide their treasure.
