Rats Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I have some very nice wool which should hold a good raw edge... I'm wondering about how common--er would be an unlined waistcoat?? Sure it wouldn't be a hassle to throw a linen liner in there. But having seen nice jackets with the raw edge, I'm wondering just how common an unlined waistcoat might be???? Cheers! Fox Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Shouldn't be a problem Rats. There are odd extant examples of unlined clothes from the period, and of course they are mentioned in the ASC specs. Also, in the Haycock slop shop inventory many of the items are described as "lined", while many are not - take that as you will. Rats Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 Thanks Fox! I did notice you had sported a very sharp unlined jacket! Which got me thinking more along those lines. However with the waistcoat, folks usually like a lining.... However I was just wondering about the fraying by the armpits and such. And as pockets go, I suppose I would just let the pockets hang in the inside also??? Or no pockets at all??? Thanks again! Rats No rest for the wicked! Wait a minute... that's me?!
