Captain J. Savage Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Well I know it's a tabletop game; while on my quest to piss the wife off by impregnating her characters on the sims 2 I notice it's a job title; I even see it as a rank in the forum... Where the hell did the term Dread Pirate originate? How is it different from a regular pirate? (if at all different)
Quartermaster James Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I think it comes from the matted hair pyrates affected after time spent in Jamaica... ... ... ... ... ... No? ... ... Seriously? ... ... ... Okay, the first use of Dread Pyrate I can recall is The Dread Pyrate Roberts, from The Princess Bride...
Captain J. Savage Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 Ah ok another invention of hollywood, although it does have a great ring.
Silent Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The Dread Pirate Roberts is a fictional character in the novel and movie The Princess Bride. Thats all I know
HarborMaster Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007  Dread Pirate..,the game is fun ., this much I know I am not Lost .,I am Exploring. "If you give a man a fire, he will be warm for a night, if you set a man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life!"
HarborMaster Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 "That" Mr. Silent is for my bar.., HA --- HA. I am wanting to put a large oak keg that says Rhum in the corner with a small XXX powder keg ..,a few lightly built wooden crate boxes., then toss a burlap sac .,"SUGAR" and of course this bag of Jamaican grass. Sort of build a pile of "Cargo " in the corner. Either way .,back to this thread., maybe too much of THIS can cause Dread-Locks  I am not Lost .,I am Exploring. "If you give a man a fire, he will be warm for a night, if you set a man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life!"
Pirate Seika Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 LOL... don't think the term Dread Pirate means.. having dreadlocks... if it is a real term beyond books and movies.. don't u think it may have meant dreadful or dread as in have fear of? just a thought... although my pirate Cap'n is a dread pirate of the hair kind... lol ~QM Seika Hellbound~ We ain't no stinking Parrots!!!"
