eline de lussac Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Auregan short movie Hi everyone. Hope we didn't choose the wrong part of the forum to post. Our vidéo team has been working with a french singer for more than 3 years. This time ago she wrote and composed a song about a female captain...That was before POTC. Now everybody has captain Jack in mind. What you can see with this link, if you want, is a first look on the character created by Auregan. Soon online will be added a complete video movie with live version on this sound. Hope this video will catch your eyes and give you envy to chek Auregan's You tube page later. If you want more of her art creations (she's all author, composer, singer, actress...) you may visit her blog. As pirates addict ourselves, enjoy. Thanks.
Caraccioli Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Hmm. You come in, post one thing that is a sales job with a link to some site that I daren't follow because you raised the specter of spam... I'd say yes; all this looks sort of like spam to me. If you'd been around the site participating in the posting elsewhere and posting things other than potential ads, I'd be a bit less cynical. But you haven't. "You're supposed to be dead!" "Am I not?"
Black Hearted Pearl Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Moderator soapbox: I found this post attached to the 'Jack and Hector' thread and broke it off into it's own topic. Others think this might be spam. It's me that is asking you, my fellow members, is this spam or just someone new trying to connect with other pirates? Pardon the confusion. ~Black Hearted Pearl The optimist expects the wind. The pessimist complains about the wind. The realist adjusts the sails.
Iron Bess Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Spam Well, you may not realize it but your looking at the remains of what was once a very handsome woman!

CaptainSatan Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I actually viewed the video clip. It is NOT spam! -CS As we say in Ireland let's drink until the alcohol in our system destroys our liver and kills us.
Bilgemunky Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Holy cricket, you folks are brutal. I viewed the video - it's a link to YouTube (a site linked many, many times at the Pub before.) The video contains music and pirate images. It's not spam. Is it so out of line for someone work on a pirate project, and then assume folks at a pirate forum might be interested? I AM BILGEMUNKY
Mary Diamond Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I agree with Captain Satan and Bilgemunky ~ NOT SPAM ~ A YouTube 'video' comprised of a photo slideshow set to music. Not to my taste, but, that is a different topic. Oooh, shiny!
Mission Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 1. Because of the way it was posted, you couldn't immediately tell it went to YouTube. It's just a shiny link. 2. This is the only post by this person, so you take what they say in their post on faith because you don't know them. 3. They have not posted anything since they posted this despite the idea that they posted spam was raised which sounds to me like a hit and run post which is basically a form of... 4. Spam. They want lots of hits on their YouTube posting, so they post links to it where ever they can. At least that's my thinking. But I don't like being used to further other people's ends willy-nilly, so it may just be that I'm paranoid. (And I surely can be, too.) Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" John: "I don't know." Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
Bilgemunky Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Mission, Points 1-3, absolutely true on all accounts. Point 4, maybe we all just differ on our definitions. Spam, to me, is viagra or hair-loss remedies. It's sent out on a mass, untargeted basis in the hopes that one in a million suckers will bite. This post was a pirate-themed item posted to a forum of pirate fans. Seems to me that they had good reason to assume we might be interested in what they had to offer. Personally I don't have a problem with people and businesses posting just once to announce something that is genuinely of pirate interest, so long as they do it in an upfront, polite manner. Not everyone frequents forums, pirate or otherwise, and I don't see prior posting as a requisite to sharing what they have to offer. Others clearly feel differently. I AM BILGEMUNKY
Rumba Rue Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 It's not spam, but damn close. Personally the French singing and flash stills don't do anything for me.
oderlesseye Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Eye know i said spam erlier aarrr ... but maybe Bilgemunky is right... Oderlesseye Wunders ifen the poster speaks english? Maybe thats why the "hit and run" http://www.myspace.com/oderlesseyehttp://www.facebook....esseye?ref=nameHangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there! As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words: "My treasure to he who can understand."
captjacksparrowsavvvy Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 First, my understanding of spam(other than that slimey stuff we had to eat when we were kids because we didn't have lots of money)...is promoting a site with gambling,porn,medicine,get-rich-quick, meet-local-singles and "101 ways to have sex with sheep" programs that are 19.99 and if you order right now, they will send you 2 programs for the price of one... This to me is self-promotion by a young artist trying to find an audience, specifically targeting the pirate fans. I don't see it as a money making scheme nor anything other than a young kid trying to make it in the world of entertainment. I find this post harmless as a june bug in a jar. I can't go by the stats of how many times a member posts. To me that is just a number. I have seen people on sites have thousands of posts yet their messages are typically one or two word replies. "Yep" "That's great" "Me too"...that all counts as a post, aye?
PirateSSe Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Holy cricket, you folks are brutal. I viewed the video - it's a link to YouTube (a site linked many, many times at the Pub before.)The video contains music and pirate images. It's not spam. Is it so out of line for someone work on a pirate project, and then assume folks at a pirate forum might be interested? Well said. I liked it, and they were just sharing their project with like-minded others. Good for them. Courage to show your talent is commendable.
Mission Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Hey, I'm just one user like you guys. According to Wiki's article on forum spam (this being a forum), it is "the posting of advertisements, abusive, or unneeded messages on Internet forums." I see this as an advertisement of this person's YouTube posting designed to build hit counts on the site and increase its popularity. But that's just me, y'all clearly see it differently. (If this person were a regular user, I probably wouldn't give it a second thought. But they aren't. Whatever reason you come up with to explain the hit-and-run aspect, it's still there. I'm actually somewhat surprised someone hasn't emailed this person and invited them to rebut the spam comments based on some of the fervor displayed. It would still be hit-and-run, but maybe the person would get hooked and become a contributing member then.) At any rate...enjoy the video if you disagree. Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" John: "I don't know." Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
Tartan Jack Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Several days later and eline de lussac has yet to post a second time. SO, I have a feeling it was a "spam-esque" hit and run. It was AT LEAST theme related and does not SEEM to be $$$$ related. PLEASE, eline de lussac, respond IF you EVER look at this thread again???? -John "Tartan Jack" Wages, of South Carolina
Silent Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I think it's funny how people with register just to post spam. They really have no life.
Black Hearted Pearl Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 So let this die an early death and no longer post responses. ~Black Hearted Pearl The optimist expects the wind. The pessimist complains about the wind. The realist adjusts the sails.
