William Brand Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Every once in a while we all get to experience a kind of surreal accomplishment that we would have laughed about as children. For me, it's cat litter. Yes, after years of making art for several dozen small projects with meager circulations, I am now beginning to go national on a cat litter bag. Flattering...? Yes...but in a very surreal sort of way. I mean, my art is now advertising a product that felines the world over will be pissing on. It occurs to me that my art now leans towards performance art in that respect. Still, I am flattered to learn that the shelf tags that accompany the product are being stolen on a regular basis by an admiring public. Odd, but true.
LongTom Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Congratulations, William! Here's to more exposure and more commissions!
jim hawkins Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Being on cat litter is way better than being in cat litter.
Silkie McDonough Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Ahhh, shades of so many artists! Tomato soup cans come to mind! LOL Congratulation's William perhaps not your most creative work but it is well done and was hopefully lucrative for you! here is to further commissions!
Red-Handed Jill Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Still, I am flattered to learn that the shelf tags that accompany the product are being stolen on a regular basis by an admiring public. Odd, but true. Folks know art when they see it. Congratulations!!

William Brand Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 Thank you, all. I don't believe that King Cat is going to hit the East Coast for awhile yet, so you pirates might have to wait to do any pilfering.
Red Cat Jenny Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 No worries... I just pilfered the image here With your permission of course.. Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Ransom Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 As keeper of a house with multiple cats, I can take full advantage of your efforts, both artistic and practical! Gee, if I buy a bag, can I send the picture to you to autograph for me? A signed print is almost as good as the original! Nice job, William. Hope it leads to more work for you. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... William Brand Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 Gee, if I buy a bag, can I send the picture to you to autograph for me? A signed print is almost as good as the original! Send me your address and I'll mail you an autographed bag. Minus the litter of course. Far too heavy.
Lady Alyx Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 As one who loves the advertising industry artwork...bravo. I as well like the olde time advertising artistic qualities. I wish more companies would bring it back! Even Mr. Peanut which is a very old advert has been brought into the new millenium! Coca Cola still manages to squeak its voluptious body shape into its bottling. ~~~~Sailing Westward Bound~~~~ Lady Alyx
