Matusalem
Anyone know what swear words were used during GAOP? I can quote Shakespeare, but it does not seem candid and real enough. I want words that will get you locked up in the stockade.
CrazyCholeBlack
1736 canting dictionary & Dictionary of the vulgar tongue Should get you started. The secret key to using a Shakespeare quote to "swear" is to do it often enough that the phrase gets really comfortable for you. I have one that I use as part of my normal vocabulary. It doesn't feel so contrived that way. Plus it always gets a funny look & shuts people up "If part of the goods be plundered by a pirate the proprietor or shipmaster is not entitled to any contribution." MadMike
There's a few quotes in "Captured by Pirates" that include "dog" and "SOB"... Yours, Mike Try these for starters- "A General History of the Pyrates" edited by Manuel Schonhorn, "Captured by Pirates" by John Richard Stephens, and "The Buccaneers of America" by Alexander Exquemelin. Capn_Enigma
There are several books by that title. Could you specify which one you mean? "The floggings will continue until morale improves!"
