Ahhh yes., It was also my first chest.,I have the one on the right.,in a 9" X 7" I still use it for my Jewelry box.,I love that chest!!

Oh., I wouldnt say it was "That easy" or everyone would behavin' one., plenty of shops in America with tools in'em thats fer sure. I guess it depends on how much you put into it as with anything you want done well.

I cannot be sure yet about a production run of these yet? Kinda depends on my castor .,mold costs.,labor.,material and shipping. I do have my Napoleon barrel finished and am curently working on the handle design and milling., soon I will braze it on the barrel and post pics of it., at that point We will see which one people like more., then I will send it in to the castor for a quote on 12 pieces. the napoleon is .50 caliber. Cost is the factor If the castor wants say 25.00 to 30.00 after shipping per unit the price may be too high to warrant a production? Also the old english pistol is only 4" ., tho it may look cool The Napoeon being 5 3/4 may be a bit more comfortable to hold and therefore a beter choice to cast. Also a heads up on affordable cannons. I found out about a castor making 1/4 scale napoleons at 23" long and with a 1" bore., powder charges are small and still VERY loud and have considerable muzzle velocity for 185.00 Barrel only. Thats cheap enough anyone can own a cannon if you build your own naval carriage..., which is not very difficult if you know where Home Depot is. I ordered 2 for starters., and if I like what I see .,(I am sure I will) then I probably will order 4 more for our S.E. Asian Scuba diving catamaran camper special we plan on using at Tropico Beach and Marina . Here is the link to Grey Star Industries. Cannon Maker Grey Star According to TIm these take only 2 weeks to cast and ship.

Thanke gents., the next one is a sort of Napoleon style cannon with a little bit differant handle. I will post a few photos of it in this particular thread once I get the brazing finished and then polished out.

I know these are "Not period"., However I am having fun with them. This particular one I just bored for a pilot., and need to finish at .32 caliber. A pirate will need a cigar to fire it however the other I am working on is 1 3/4" longer and is a .62 caliber. They make decent paperweights and conversation pieces at Ren Faires.

I am still looking., however I do know the original "Strong-Box" pre safe., was Iron strapped.., leather would be decrative only. There is a refrence to a Thomas Bodley with a "Strong Box" he died in 1613.

I bought these plans before I started Treasure chest plans Then modified them from there. The author of these plans sends them very quickly and they are easy to follow card stock cut out plans. Also he has a small gallery of his chest finished.,they are bigger than mine and can be used for many things. I think you'll be able to find someone happy to help with a project for you both., I and I believe youll be happier with your chest than with anything you could buy. If anyone does choose this route I hope they will post pictures. Personally I will be now making 4 more chests of this nature but substantially bigger for the foot of beds in our 4 hotel rooms. Probably without the steel and with feet added (Clothing chests)

I use a pouch.,unless I am wearing a frock....., I also used a horn and cut it about 7" a straight section., and built caps from wood , leather and brass attachments for a leather strap.,as my SpyGlass case. It will also hold documents (Fair map ect.,ect.,)or other things.

LOL Rummy3., yes its what I wanted too ., I have to have it for my bar., and yes I have collected quite a magnificent treasure for it indeed., itll sit behind the bar and be lit up. Here is a link to a pretty good one you can modify Designs-USA.com We simply sized it down and added a few angles.

Pirate Petee., we used a heavy tin.,light steel.,a die grinder.,heavy tin snip..,and a metal scribe to etch our outline. The straps are of course easy 1" cut to length., the top ends you can use a drill and a jig saw., then file smooth. Youll want to measure each hole for perfect results., the pre-drill them and use a small button upolstery nail.,with a j-tip., so they hold tight ! Captain midnight., I dont have a pattern readily available., I cantell you its 15" long X 10 deep and 12 high ., and can post a few more pics if you like. Chest 1 Chest 2 Chest 3 Basically youll make your top 1 1/2 wide boards., with 6 degree cuts., leaving the WHOLE 1 1/2 on the wide side. this will make your roll top depnding on what way you flip the boards., the ends are the realtrick., (Compound cuts) of course they are small flat cuts to gets the roll top to fit...., however all at an angle to make the chest top slant inward at the top sides. The bottom will then easily get built last to fit your box. Truly a hand me down generational treasure ! I can figure out a pattern ., and card board it., into cut outs. but I would have to spend a little time in the shop. A small table disc sander (29 dollar chinese made) will greatly enable your ability to get exact measurements and angle for each top board ends. Their a small challenge to make.

There are patterns on ebay that you can buy also., we modified one a bit. A table saw some 1/2 oak and a little steel with hammerite paint will do the trick. The roll top was made by cutting the strips at 6 degree angles. by the way alot of junk pallets are made oak! and Mahoganey. Here is ours. Treasure Chest 1 Treasure Chest 2

Too much is never really enough., I say go for it., If you can get flamboyant go for it., Sometimes a Black coat is good (Tho black is not really period) Sometimes a velvet is good.,sometimes just a shirt pants and a not period sash works.,Sometimesa pair of "Hollywood Boots" I wear what I like., and dont really care who likes it. I am in it for me. I like Real Gold.,BIG and I like real Silver BIG , HA If your going "Wrong in Jewelry .,Go wrong BIG there as well. I like real guns and real swords., main gauges ect. I got too much invested be it right or wrong to care about what others think. I will wear for many years what I have till its trashed.,adding all the time. 1. I am having me a good time. 2. Little children wanting photos.,and treasure., and parents enjoying it. 3. How it makes me feel on the few occasions I get to do it. For me this is what its all about I did get snubbed bad at our 2004 event by a pirate group wearing all black.,I was in my blue velvet frock., However I did get the nod of approval from the King and Queen of the fair.....,they did not.

Cannons! Here is where you get em'
HarborMaster replied to Gentleman of Fortune's topic in Thieves Market
I must say I took Cap'n Glens "Royaliste" advice on my cannons and was impressed with cost and service. I got 2 3" ordinance rifles at 340lbs a tube.,not very piratey but I wanted the biggest I could physically handle and ship. In a naval trundle these will suffice for my needs and look great on a sea wall. The cast Iron will be the most bang for your buck. The bronze looks pretty I have a bronze HMS Victory Cannon for my bar., and a Stainless/nickel mix old english swivel 30" gun. Both at a 1.75 caliber bore. Powerful they are however they wont hold there own to the power of the iron guns I got thru Royalistes people. These will toss a juice can full of concrete at 800ft per sec for 1700 yards fairly accurately off a sea wall. Thank You Capn' Glen. *note* Capn Glen got a few vids of the PH for your veiwing enjoyment at Cebu
