  1. I met the great, great grandson of Colonel Rhett once. Unfortunately he was very ill at the time and apologized for not being able to tell me more of the family stories. But, he did agree with me that had Bonnet not tried to escape he would have been reprieved.
  2. Can't say as I like all of his views and opions but, I do like reading some of his books. They make you think and question things that you thought you knew or hadn't thought about before. If a book can do that then to me it's a good thing. Even if you don't agree with the author the debate and search for the real facts can be rewarding in its own right.
  3. That is some real nice work you've got there. I've been working for the last four months with a man who repairs old ship models so I'm slowly learning the the ropes as they say. You must have spent a good deal of time on your rigging to have it looking so good. The one thing that will show you just how big and clumsy your fingers can be is trying to rig a ship model correctly.
  4. I just got my rose and cutlass tattoo last sunday. When it heals totaly by next week I hope to post it.
  5. I hate to say it but I've still got a problem with my subscription. After a long wait and two e-mails of questions I finally recieved the Autumn 2007 issue. The problem is that I sent in my suscription request for the issue before that. (the one with the oreintal cover). I will say this though, my e-mails were answered very promptly , either the same day or the very next. The answer were always polite and apologitic for the inconvience. So I do feel like they are at least trying to get things organized. We'll have to see.
  6. Now I have two wishes. 1. To have more money and 2. To have paid better attention in french class.
  7. My thanks to you both. I'm looking forward to picking it up as well as "Black Barty" if it's out there. If you read it before I do please let me know what you think. I already know how he meets his end so you won't be spoiling the ending for me.
  8. On another note, I'm I the only one who see's alot of Jack Palance in Davy Jones? Had he lived I think Palance would have made a Great Davy Jones. He didn't do a bad job as Long John Silver in his day and he always made a good villian. It might just be me but I swear I see alot of his characteristics and mannerisms whenever I see Ol'Davy.
  9. The other day at Barns & Noble I noticed a new book about Bartholomew Roberts. I believe the title was "If I Must Be A Pirate" I don't remember the author. I was going to get it but I'ld already had my quota of books for that trip (man I hate budgets!!). Has anyone seen or read it? It was in the nonfiction world history section.
  10. You'll be happy to know that Jamaica Rose and her good Captain were her in Charleston for the Tall Ship Festival last weekend, so I know they still be alive and kicking. I don't know how much time they have to work on the next issue of NQG they were so busy. I got to meet them on sunday they last day of the festival and they still hadn't had time to see any of the ships or explore the other venders and exhibits, they were that busy. While I was alittle disappointed not to have the time to talk to them as much as I'ld have liked, I was glade to see how popular they were and the amount of bussiness they were getting. A pirates still got to pay his or her bills.
  11. Good for him! I liked the way he stuck up for the fans. If you go in to a movie looking to pick it apart you'll find it no matter what the movie is about. Movies should be about going to a theater and suspending belief for awhile and just enjoying a good story for awhile before going back to the real world. I need to see more of his interviews, he is such an inteligent man it's nice to hear his opions. Beats listening to most critics.
  12. There is a show on Real Pirates Of The Carolinas that was supposed to be on last night, but I went to POTC3 instead. Did anyone catch it?
  13. I have to say I liked it alot. To me the time went by almost to quickly. After the second film I thought Barbosa would look good at the helm of the Dutchman. But after finding out what Jones's real purpose was I like the fact that he ended up taking the Pearl. And comming from someone who had a pirate wedding, now that was a pirate wedding!! You could tell that Barbosa enjoyed the whole surealism of the idea of preforming a wedding in the middle of such a pivital battle where everything is on the line. He never stopped smiling. If I every have to be in a pirate war I want him at the helm!
  14. I gotta say Gyrates is a great name, I love it!
  15. Thanks for the post. I was looking for a reason to smile today and pirates and belly-dancers tend to make me do just that. Now that I've got belly-dancing pirate women I just can't stop.
