wow... I think a lot of us have always considered the Fort Taylor part of the festival, to be the main part of the PiP festival.

If there is no Fort part, then there is no period encampment or a place for our Family to gather the way we know and love.

No offense to anyone, but I don't go to the festival for the Plank Walking (as much fun as it is), or for the Wench contest...

I go to camp and spend time with my family and shoot kick ass Pirate Battles! Love the canons and gun powder.

I can dress like a pirate and go run a muck anywhere.. This is disappointing.

I don't know if it's actually Matt's wife or not, but her name is Sarah. She also works at Pirates Magazine.

My lens (thank god) is ok. I think I had a mini heart attack when I did that. lol

Oh and Johnny got some KILLER footage. We are working on fixing his computer as we speak (had to put in a new power supply),

Flying into Key West the day before Turkey Day and staying all the way through Dec. 8th. Should make for a nice vacation and work combined for The Pyrates Way. Just picked up a new 650 - 1300 zoom lens for the Nikon and a heavy duty tripod for it. . . . so dress yer best because at least half of the Winter 09/10 Pyrates Way will be dedicated to the event!

Speaking of dress. . . . have to get me some more pyrate clothing for the extended stay.

Looking forward to passing rum with ye in just a matter of weeks!

Hello All! Just like to say, that Johnny(Chappy) and I had a Blast! We got lots of great photos and footage and will try and have something posted soon for all of you to enjoy. It will be a minute on the photos. I took about 2000, but If anyone has special requests I can try and do those first. Glad we got to see all our old friends and made lots of new ones! I think the Boney's get credit for the most car alarms set off during canon fire! Hahaha

Anyway, can't wait til next years festival, cuz I know it will be bigger and better (if that's really possible) !

As for the name nitpickiness...pah. We have a looooong way to go for the term 'PiP' to become public domain. Even if we all posted separate videos on YouTube using that title, we wouldn't even be close to having to worry about pd issues. At least that's this little MBA's view of this. (We did a case study of a failed public domain trial and this sort of behavior is no where near what it takes.)

Anyone who did that would have to be crazy anyhow. The name's not that valuable and they should be happy for all the viral marketing they can get at this point. Wait until you get a letter from someone's lawyer before you even think about worrying about changing the name.

Just a note for technicality purposes... The Bone Islands are in charge of what is known as the Fort Zachary Taylor Pirate Fest, not PiP. Pirates in Paradise exists outside of the fort festival and the name is owned by Julie McEnroe of The Event Network. So, this is actually the Fort Zach Pirate Fest, not PiP.

There is actually a cooperatve rather than an adversarial relationship going on. They work very well together. The Ft, Zach event is a spin-off from the original PiP, which is still very much alive. Sort of a symbiotic and mutually supportive relationship.

Well, I didn't think it would matter if it was called Pirates in Paradise or the Fort Zachary Taylor Pirate Festival? Since we all call it PiP even if we are at the fort.

PiP covers the whole event. (Nov. 28- Dec. 6) The fort part is from dec. 3-6. Just because I showed footage from the fort doesn't mean it's not for PiP.

The fort part is like a subsidary for pip. do you not want me to use PiP as a title? you think julie will get pissed off? don't want to piss anyone off, or make advertisements for it, if it's not appreciated and will be criticized to technicalities... cuz i'm not making it for anyone. i'm not getting paid for it (nor am i asking to be). i'm doing it bc i like it and whats i do. I do it for my pirates family.
