  1. I found these online, I have never ordered from them and know nothing about them. However, it seems they are in the price range you are looking for at $49 http://www.pyrate.org/felt.html
  2. Just a little cartoon done in 1948, Hard to believe what the world is turning into. http://nationaljuggernaut.blogspot.com/2009/09/this-cartoon-seemed-far-fetched-in-1948.html
  3. Just wondering, you mentioned you may be bringing shoes/boots to PiP, any idea what you will be bringing?
  4. Now be ye looking at my lady or the bussie?
  5. The picture of the buckle was taken while in the process of being cleaned. I can have better pictures with size once its cleaned, it is small for maybe a 3/4 inch belt (im guessing here).
  6. Heres a couple pictures for you. The buckle is a piece that we found recently and recovered from a spanish galleon that sank in 1733, the pistol is just from a collection of images I got from the internet.
  7. I will be bringing what I can for firewood along with Shay, however it is not that easy to come across laying on the ground. Regarding "Bay Wood" if that is simply drift wood it would be nice to have that clarified. As to meals my wife and I will be cooking on a Thai version of a brazier or using what is available. We should be there all days so if someone is interested in eating Thai food we can cook for more however we ask to know beforehand as we will need to bring/buy additional food or buy more while in KW. A few dollars passed our way would be apperciated as well covering the food. At least one night I am planing on doing a BBQ (kinda hard to explain) but it is very good.
  8. Actually today is her birthday so I am taking the day off for her, not that Ive really had any work in the past couple months anyways.
  9. It seems at the festival here in Key Largo she is starting to open up more, of course having a nice sized buss doesn't hurt
  10. I was at a friends house in 2000 in ID (snow was on the ground) where everybody was huddled inside. For "fun" at midnight we threw all the breakers without telling anybody.
  11. "People should not be afraid of their governments, Governments should be afraid of the people" -V For those of you who have not seen V for Vendetta go out and watch it, it may just scare you how close it can hit to home.
  12. I am working on building my personal blunderbuss and hope to have the lock here by PiP 2010 which is a beautiful miquelet (Italian actually) however sinceit is coming from TRS and they estimate 6-8 months I'm hoping to get it in under 12. The buccaneer musket I am currently building (some people on the forum have seen the work in progress) will be around 6 feet with the barrel length around 57 inches using a snap haunce lock. I chose that lock for a variety of reasons the primary is that it is an early flint that I feel fits nicely in the void between matchlock and doglock predating the English yet still used along side. I think a buccaneer would have been using it not because it was the newest piece available but instead was several years old and had been proven to work reliably being much better than a matchlock. By the way the pan holds roughly 15 grains.
  13. You know . . . We do operate a small foundry here and do casting in bronze.
  14. Dang why couldn't it be a few weeks earlier then we could all party at PiP. . .
  15. hmm sounds just like walking around at home
  16. Hmm Perhaps a foot massage at PiP wouldn't be such a bad idea as I happen to know somebody skilled that will be there. . .
  17. If you can bring any poles for me I would greatly apperciate it
  18. I have learned much in the past couple of years as well and would like to say I have progressed considerably. I too was the envy of the cap and ball guys a couple weeks ago at the Ft Myers fest (they were using caps because they deemed flints too unreliable). On the line firing I was averaging 5 shots to their 2 (firing every time), of course I saw no reason a ramrod or bread was required unlike others.
  19. Go ahead and sign up Commodore Swab and Sansanee
  20. Intestering little tidbit on buckles, there were some (circa 1730's) that unlike everything you see we not made with a bar thru the center but instead were drilled and a pin installed, material was something like a copper/bronze alloy.
  21. Charles can be removed from the crimson crew as he wont be able to make it now.
  22. I particularly like the pistol, its almost as big as she is small
  23. Shay Sansanee and Myself are based here in Key Largo and are trying to pull together information about the festival. The 2 websites found are: http://www.keylargopiratefestival.com/ -not being advertised on the radio http://www.keylargopiratesfest.com/ As many of us who live here can't afford the parties that are "sponsored" and remember how things fell apart last year due to the prices (most locals dont want to pay $5 for a beer when they know they can drink in their favorite place up the street for $1 or $2 instead). We were thinking of a pirate bash here at our house (on the water)sort of a pre PiP get together after the parade on Friday night. Anybody who has any plans or is thinking of planning on being here please post your plans If Saturday works better Saturday is fine
  24. Well the first pirate festival for my wife fresh in from the orient went well and I took a couple of pictures of her. Naturally we are still working on her garb but heres a start, remember she is not from Europe but was "acquired" in Siam and now sails with pirates. And one of myself, I am working to make my outfit more befitting someone who has lived and sailed in the Orient.
