I'd look at what others have had for ideas.. the cheapest is always painting.. like Trompe L'Orele.. (spelling) means fool the eye. You can paint or stencil lots of things on walls. Rope that has been knotted makes a nice wall or window trim. Sail cloth painted flags can add texture to walls or make a curtain, or in one instance the ceiling! Look around at second hand stores for mugs and chairs, and wall plaques or candle lanterns and sconces. Craft stores have tin lanterns for gardens and would look great as light sources with lightbulbs in them. Garage sales will work for that too. Find stuffed parrots and old barrels, old looking frames. A friend of mine bought some old coins and then glued them under the glass of his countertop. Don't glue them to the bar itself, its a pain to clean around them. Look at Target or specialty stores for closeouts on Pirates Stuff.. they are getting ready for POC-3 and having good prices on the older stuff. Lamps, bandanas, rub-ons, tee-shirts etc. good luck and have fun.. thats an order. :)

there's an indie film festival here that loves quirky movies.. Try the UNI college film festival from Cedar Falls Ia. Elijah Wood was from there, and Nancy Price who wrote Sleeping with the Enemy, and Annbeth Gish.

to those of you who I have made friends with.. there is a possibility that I won't see much of this darlin. My daughter has mostly decided to give up temp custody of him to her boyfriend's mother so she can go to college. I've offered her my house but its not where she wants to go to school. I've talked til she hangs up on me, so I've backed down. I've also had trouble with my future ex tonight, so being on the net is a luxury I won't have.. keep the sails Bristol fashion and your powder dry.. and wish me luck.

the black tides are winning. My daughter is giving temp custody to the other grandma so she can go to school and escape being a mom herself. My soon to be ex got in the house on a pretext and then swore at me til I had the police make him leave. I made 5 phone calls and none returned them.. I think its a new low. I'll be quitting my net swervice since said Spouse hasn't put any money in the house account for 3 weeks, and he doesnt plan to.. good luck to all you here, and chin up.. make life what you want of it. faire winds

the little tyke is a caution... he pooped on the nurse.. twice. As his uncle called him, he's a little shit-let. I think that's spanish for party pooper.

The little one is a bit of his grandmama.. no sooner did I post that thread then I got the call to go back to my daughter's room. Xavier was born at 5:30 last night, with dark hair and lots of it. Long legs and fingers, all the better to run and pilfer a pocket. This might be my only grandchild, since I only have 2 kids, so this one is very special.. thank you for your good wishes.. you have no idea how heart warming they are. Hugs for everyone!

keep an eye open here to see pictures and WHEN he's born. The little gob is due on my berthday March 6, but 'xactly when is a mystery... I'll upload some as soon as I can get the gob to show.. bye for now.

Thank you Thank you Thank you ALL!! I can't respond to all of you individiually because I am: a. working this week, unlike my First mate Lady B who is off of school and b. I am awaiting the berth of my first grandchild, Xavier!! He is going to be born on my berthday, and such a present is worth more than any other treasure! I am sending this from the hospital, while the little gob is keeping us awaiting. Sounds like his grandmama, arriving on his own sweet time.. I'm humbled by all of your good wishes, from the bestest of mates ANY pirate could have.. ' Ray, another keg of the good stuff, and keep them chicks, I mean chicken wings coming!! I didnt celebrate at all.. there were some terrible winds and about 5 inches of snow making travel impossible. So, I hope to make up for it this weekend.. I'll let you know! and I expect to be alone for my berthday.. and probably working. sigh.. boring boring boring. lol Silent-- gotta love them Goonies! ty!
