  1. Thank You Sir. I was looking at other posts about these encampments but non the of the links worked. I was very happy to see yours did =)

Now, for a bit o' reading.

Just for reference purposes, the links should probably work if you remove the "/forums" from the URL.

Good luck with the tent, mate, and let's see some pictures along the way!

  2. Also, he doesn't over-dramatize things and has this great self-deprecating humour.

One of my favorite things is when he's eating grubs or maggots or generally icky food and remarks on how he would rather starve than eat that, how terrible it tastes, etc.

Bear Grylls just talks about how "it's an excellent source of protein!"

  3. Yep, pretty neat show. I read something about how he doesn't actually do all the stuff himself -- his crew helps him, and stuff like that -- but it's still cool. "SurvivorMan" with Les Stroud is great, too.

  4. Aw man, this makes me want to go even more! Well, there's always next year.

This makes me wonder, how much of PiP is "in character?" Like outside of the big scenarios, is there a lot of just down-time roleplaying (and I don't mean pulling out some old D&D books)?

  5. That looks pretty do-able, but might take some time... I wish you the best of luck!

That being said, I'd like to try this too, being that I have access to those tools AND a plasma cutter. Where'd you get the Fireman's axe?

  6. Jacob Abrams is my period persona...but how did I come up with it, you ask?

Well, my actual name is Jacob Ehrlich (with the middle name Broderick.) My granfather's name was Abraham Broderick Cohen, and I decided to go with Abraham as my persona's last name. I decided Abrams had a more piratey name to it...

Bo, that makes sense, because I was hoping that your name didn't mean the "What the F*CK!" company!

  7. I'm disappointed with the lot of you! Since this is the "plunder" section where you're suppose to sell things, I was just here to sell these costumes to an audience that I thought would appreciate it. But since you're all just a bunch of babies who can't get your stupid heads out of the gutter, or out of your own asses, I can see that posting on this fourm is a waste of my time.

And I expected more from you all!

Now, I may come off as being rude, but that's only because I interpreted your post as being rude, as well.

First off, this is a community of pirate enthusiasts and reenactors (whether they be fantasy, Hollywood, or "living history") We all put our own amounts of effort, time, and money into creating kits to live up to our standards (or those set by our groups, for that matter.)

That being said, we're serious about what we do. And, for the most part, those costumes just won't cut it. I don't know about what others think, but my opinion stands. Now, I'm not saying these are terrible terrible things. I'm sure they're well-made, and I'm sure there's a market for them (and I'm sure it's peak is around Halloween.)

Secondly, deal with this stuff maturely. If people here don't want what you're selling, just deal with it. No need to cause a hissyfit or insult the members here.

You get more pirates with rum than saltwater, my friend...

  8. ok...just a thought here.....so no shootin....

there are plenty of refferences of what common sailors wore(law abidin)

there are plenty of references about pyrate tactics....the one that catches my eye is...tryin to scare them into submission...hence hoistin the pyrate colors an such.......

so...my question is....in the vain of tryin to look "scary enough to force a surrender"...would the common sailor purposly "dress like a pyrate"...as to seem more vicious and scary?....

modern day example....bouncers...they all look the same...big bad and mean...like they could kick yer arse......but do ya know if they can really fight or not???,,,,me either...to scared to try them....

    and thats kinda my point.....

if at sea...about to engageĀ  another ship...would a "pyrate"...dress the part....to put the fear of GOD into the other ship?????

    any ideas on this one?????

Well, what I think (and I'm just pulling this out of nowhere) is that they might dress all spooky like if A) it was practical in terms of functionality and B) they had certain clothes to instill fear.

I dunno, but it doesn't seem like people would dress all normal and then get the call to switch to their "murder clothes."

I think hoistin' the colors, firin' a long gun or two, and all the whoops and hollerin' of the rowdy sailors would be enough!

  9. Hey, Blackjohn, I see you're interested in viking stuff. I've got a leather viking helmet that ye might want. 'Course I'm not sure how period it is or anything, but it looks pretty nice...

Got anything you'd like to trade? B)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm trying to get into Star Wars stuff...not sure what to call it...costuming? Stormtrooper, Rebel Pilot, it's all good.
