I don't know the origins of this old saying, but my wife taught it to me, and her mother used to tell it to her when she was a little girl; "Pink sky at night is a sailor's delight; Pink sky in the morning is a sailor's warning."
I always heard it "Red" too, from Long Island.....
Live in So. Cal now and wonder about that, we have red (well bright pink really) skies in the morning and nothing happens.....we have purple skies too and nothing happens with them either.
Really, weather-wise southern CA is a very boring place.
When the skies ae full of helicopters things will get interesting....You can drop to the ground when you hear gunfire...but you'll wait a long time for interesting weather. .

The collector's edition must be bought But I could not see any deleted scenes on the list of features excpet for bloopers .... Loved the ones from the first one
Completely agree mate, the cut scenes added a nice tension/intensity to the tale, at the time I posted I wished there was a way to reconstruct the movie with those scenes included. Realize they were probably cut for time but, it was a pity. Maybe some day, assemble-your-own-movie DVDs..

Something no man likes in a woman..wistful introspection.....
I don't think that's fair to say "No man" I know quite a few men who would cry thinking that might be true!
Men who cry over a woman thinking them unlikely to like a woman prone to introspection?
Pirate men who cry over over a woman thinking them unlikely to like a woman prone to introspection?
Ye don't think it's more likely powder in their eyes or something?

Your pirate name is:
Captain Mary Rackham
Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!
For the other one I got Gunnel Jill.
I dern't be likin' th' fist one at all, and the' second is just distibin' if ye ask me. I shall stick to my original: Cap'n Sway!
Ye see, this name fits me perfectly because o' a few reasons:
1. Sway is a beautiful sounding, feminine name.
2. It is relevant to anythin' piraty because I be named af'er th' seas motion.
3. Me ship is called Atrocious Gail, and if there are strong gails then it causes me ship t' sway.
4. It's my favourite name.
It's a useful name too,
"You're gonna do it my S'way cause I'm the Captain!"
"What S'way we take that merchantmen, eh?"
"I like the S'way ye; hold yer cutlass mate....."

well hell.... dread thinks this a grand looking flag!
[...one ship's mate runs to the captain: "sir! there is another ship approachin'... "not to worry" says the captain, "seems harmless enuf..."
then the captain notices the blackflag... he yells out:
"everyone to their stations, .... pyrates!!!"
...back on the pyrate ship the pyrate Wednesday smiles and thinks...
"this is going to be a good day. Everyday is Wednesday!!!"]
Aye, a good days work, or Wednesday s work.... W

Yup.
I'm also a believer in elastic for waistbands for those of us who like to be comfortable. Just cover the waistband with a shirt, sash or something else.
So much more forgiving too.....

Thank ye kindly, Wednesday! I'm particularly proud of it...the flag and its design, as well as me own name have special, sentimental symbolism to me.
Sentimental?
I'd ha' thought mystical..........never expected sentimental.....can ye' elaborate?

How about (if ye'll pardon me sayn') a large cannon across the bottom and three skulls lined up just above it. it would look like they were leering over the top of it...
You called it, you got it. Presenting the Ensign of the Dread Pirate Wednesday!
Well, okay, a first draft of said Ensign, anyway. Feel free to alter to suit your own style as you see fit. Personally I think both the skull and cannon need a little help, but it works for a first impression on the layout, at least.
Very nice!
Ok, I gotta make a flag. I sketched one for R that eh' didn't take to so I think I'll use it meself. It had a crown, fitting me attitude (I've been told).
I'd thought of doing one with a Griffin...only sketches so far (and who knows where they are.
Thought of painting the black around the design, not only easier (said now) than stitching but doing it with unevenly thinned fabric paint so it looks worn.
Lunch in Seal beach today, pirate flags flyn' here and there....aye mates the Seal Beach Pirates, starbucks, a BLT and killn' for a parking space.....

I just sewed some 'pirate' pants for myself. I simply took a woman's easy pant pattern and widened out the legs a bit, cut them off at the length I wanted and bingo!
You can certianly do that with your own idea of simply slimming the leg down, it should be very easy.
that should work (not slim, but straight). Thought of using my beach-pants pattern and placing the top of the pant at the line of the print and cutting straight down both outside and inside seam.
Sound workable?

Like Marion Ravenwood! (Definitely one of the best movie heroines ever. Marie 'Slim' Browning in To Have and To Have Not is another one. But I digress...)
Kwik Sew pattern 2990. (Google)

Now, assuming this is a pirate question (palazzo pants looking distinctly piratey to me), I'm going to move this topic into Plunder where the sewing questions are better answered. Here, we talk about your degree of strangeness.
Hmm...I was looking for elastic waist rather than fillted...pirate...not really thought Iwas going to make bloomers.....
Found a piece of India print with a stripe, wanted to not cut a curve into the stripe, so....palazzo.....
