  2. My money is on the guy with the space-age pistol wearing the 'Depends' undergarment. What?! They look like 'Depends' don't they? Great shot Jack!
  3. Indeed I do, Kate... There is something very rewarding about getting something finished PRIOR to an event and not worrying about finishing it 10 mins. before the event starts. I cannot wait to see Kate's eyelet/button holes!!

  6. A happy belated Christmas to you Spike. I wish you hope and blessings of good fortune in this the New Year. I pray that all your woes are a thing of the past, (2008 to be exact) and that you are starting off the new year with happiness and good health. We all hope that you are well, Spike. God Speed. Cheeky
  7. This IS good news....now, do you have an etching you are copying or looking at something to get an idea from?
  8. Oooo! Kate...does this mean "FANCY DRESS" for the Ball?! Do tell...PLEASE!!!
  9. Have you noticed Fayma and Tony have their 2008 PIP shots up? They are grand indeed!
  10. Very Cool Dioas! Lots of great shots of everyone!
  11. Oops Sorry Captain. I stand corrected. August was (is) a very busy month indeed for events!
  12. Yes, Mickey is correct stating that Pike River in Kenosha, WI and Beaufort, NC are conflicting events. They fell on the same weekend in 2008. Chances are, they will do so the same this year....(but need to confirm this). Per the Captain's request...if you can make Beaufort, NC...please do. It is the event of choice (for several reasons...big ships, location, Blackbeard's Crew to be there...).
  13. Oh thank you Mama and Papa! What a lovely gift. You two do such amazing work and we all appreciate all the hard work, time and energy that you two put into this every year. Thank you again! Oh, and the photoshoot of Lily and Edward is AMAZING!!!
  14. Big News from RF-HQ! This just in! Big things are happening at RF HQ! The giant vendor hall sold out back in early November, something that has never happened before in our convention's short history. The discounted room block we had SOLD OUT in November and the Westin had to give us more rooms (which are nearly gone) and the seminar schedule and live schedule are booked solid. This is going to be our biggest and best RF ever!!
  15. Though I am not too familar with Steampunk, I grew up watching Wild Wild West (which in my opinion was the first phase of Steampunk). League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a great movie and the special effects and props are to die for. I have been thinking about selling some of my Victorian gowns (mostly made when doing Wild West Reenactments). They rang in size from a size 8 to 12 and some 14. A large assortment...great for this sort of stuff... Anyone interested, PM me. I'll chat and send photos if you are looking for lovely Lady's late-Victorian (mostly second bustle fashion of the mid to late 1880s).
  16. LOL! Boy...and I thought I was bad?! Oh poor, Maddogge! I fear he doesn't know what he's gotten himself into.
  17. Now I'm gonna be a smart-arse....2/4 or 4/4 measure? There is that technique that you showed us back or Port Washington's Pyrate Fest. For lack of a better name, "The Approach, Strike and Pause". I hope you know of what I speak. It when the two fighters approach, clash once, then move in a fluid motion, then proceed to approach, clash, and pause again. I know you mentioned that this helps 'build up and draw out' a fight scene.
  18. I can see it now...Captain Sterling orders the attack...Cheeky: " Damn it Sterling where's my boarding music" I can hear Sterling sigh from here. Now you're just scaring me, Nell!
  19. OMG why didn't I think of it sooner,,, here's the perfect training video!! LOL! Great Video Nell! I've never seen this one before!
  20. I would love to be able to 'attack and defend' without looking so stiff and staged. video it....when ya watch it back...it really shows what ya need to do different....we truly are our worst critiques.....unless i am trainin ya...then i am... Lilly and Bess looking at 'La Dogge' - "Great, just what we need another man to bark at us!" Oh Maddogge, I really loved it when you were teaching me the 'blows'. (Again girls,...strikes to bring your victim down). This was wonderful and very helpful knowing how to strike without injuring your victim ...it looked so real! The best part was kicking you in the face! All I can remember is yelling..."Can I do it again? Can I do it again?!"
  21. Diosa, the Archangel Crewe has 'some' rough video of Maddogge in action (sorry ladies...by action, I mean sword fighting...It ain't that kind of video ( bow...bow chicka bow bow...)! Though it is rough, we have some of us being taught by Maddogge. We have always had the intension of putting a formal instruction video together...we are still in the 'planning stages'. Perhaps we can do something this spring? Maddoge...your input?
  22. in stage...every style...rapier,broad sword, ...big ass piece of wood....would still use the same points of attack/block...the difference being on how one would weild the object (body placement and footwork) and the delivery.... Cheeky with her spoon and Silkie with her fryin pan and a fire poker could reasonabley defend the common agaisnt a maurading mass of drunkin pyrates with a myriad of weapons..... damn....i'm gittin all excited..... ....wheres my sword.. .....whowanna fight?!?!?! I truly need more "Kicking-Ass" practice time. Perhaps I'll have to see if I can't arrange a bit of practice time withl Mary Diamond...both for Bess and Lilly, really. I would love to be able to 'attack and defend' without looking so stiff and staged.
  23. Good point. I am sure that this can be addressed. A good example of this type of thing is how the Blackbeard's Crew do their "School for the Scallyways". This past summer, I had the pleasure of watching and assisting Madame Grace of Blackbeard’s crew during their ‘School of the Scallywags’. The kids would take instruction from Grace on how to handle a sword. When demonstrating each move, she shouts out a command (nine times out of ten it is a sound…not a word) for a particular action or motion. The Kids pick it up right quick and have a great time of it! Now I am not suggesting that we all go “SCHWING!” when we pull out our swords to prepare to fight. (Though, I can seriously see Maddogge doing it. ) Point and counter-point commands would be helpful.
