  1. All right...saw this posting and was a bit reluctant to submit something, but now I say...what the heck! First, Happy Drunk! Everyone's Buddy and will make sure that everyone is having a grand time of it...unless... Unless you give me Gin! Plymouth Gin is the worst for me, along with others in that top-shelf brand grouping. I turn "witchy-poo mean"! So, no 7 & 7s, no gin and tonics for me. I am happy with cider, ales, stouts and the like...
  2. ^ NO! Damn, we are under a snow warning tonight. The weather people state anywhere between 6 to 12 inches! What Spring?!? Where?! < If the cold hasn't killed my tulips...the rabbits will. Saw two 'very large' rabbits in my garden this morning...just going to town on the greens! V What is the first thing you will do once it 'warms up' enough where you are?
  3. Lilly turned her head towards Hamish’s voice. She was greeted with a smile. “Ney, good Captain. Do not wake the doctor. I weep for another, not for myself. My back is sore, but I can manage, thank you.” She slowly turned her body over as she heard the sound of the wine being poured. “I am sure that you will find Master Hutchinson. But truth be told….I rather you find Captain Sterling.” Hamish’s face showed evidence of surprise. She could just hear his thoughts at the very moment. With Scottish tone announcing, “Not likely to find a ghost walking about Port Royal Mistress, am I?” She watched his face. It was a mixture of pain and pity. “I am a fool to have loved him, Captain. I would give my life for him if I had a second chance. I only wish to tell him how I feel…if it be my last dying breath!”
  4. Hmm...with open pit to cook on, how does everyone feel about seagull? A little salt, and little pepper....who would know?
  5. Dearest Blackfoot, It seems that said, 'video' to the link which was posted by Maddog, doesn't work on my end for some strange reason. All I read about was about the Fort itself. My word, there are ghost stories then there are Horrid Stories!
  6. Well William, I truly enjoy a good ghost tale as much as the next person and knowing that Master Harry has 'encountered' such a thing, I hope to hear a tale or two while I am down there. It makes for a good night of company around the fire. Too bad that the moon will be waning then it would set the mood quite nicely!
  7. Pigeons on the menue too. I think that some posh restaurants in England still serve it with a nice white wine.
  8. Plagued with bad dreams and unsettling news of her Captain’s death, Lilly did not find sleep that night. Instead, she found herself taking inventory of her past. How cruel she had been thinking only of her position and wealth, not giving much thought to the kindness and the compassion that Captain Sterling showed her in return. Perhaps the need of affection was greater than what she could give to him. Oh, she was there for him, ‘tis true, but what she did not give to him in conversation and support she always made up for it in bed. She would sacrifice a few hours here and there so he would be assured that she was the height of his affection. Yet, the connection she dearly wanted with him always seemed too clouded with the thoughts of his dead wife Tess. “I will not share my wedding bed with a ghost!” She would to tell the Empress. Lilly knew that in order for her to ‘win over’ the Captain’s affections she would have to seduced more than just his body and purse. She began to think that her attempts were paying off until Lord Darnly moved into the picture. It was then her life became…complicated. Lord Darnly offered money, power, and the position of a gentle woman! When Lord Darnly won her over with these things…he had done the deal! He had seduced her as she seduced Captain Sterling. With images of a fine life, finery of a well placed household and power which she could obtain only in marriage, it was hard not to fall for such a creature…even if she did not love him. Now looking back at the path she had paved, she regretted everything. Captain Sterling only wished to love her. Why was it so hard for Lilly to truly understand that? Perhaps it was only now that she really loved him for who he truly was. Oh, the things she did to his heart! She turned his head toward the wall and pulled the sheet to her face. Tears flowing freely now as she tried ever so quietly to hush her soft sounds of crying. The little black dog raised his head as her sounds could not be muffled by the keen ears of the Captain’s watchdog. He quickly jumped on the end of the bed and curled up close to Lilly’s side. She hugged the little black dog and continued to cry lightly. “I’ve been a fool…and Damn fool!” She said to herself as she pet the dog. “I shall make this right…no matter what I do…Johnny needs to know that my heart is true.” And with that she tried once again to close her eyes and sleep.
  9. The pain was unbearable. As Lilly pulled herself up from her bed she bit her lower lip to muffle the sharp agonizing sound the gripped her at that very moment. Even childbirth was not as painful as this she thought to herself. She felt light headed and soon felt ill as she tried to pull herself from her bed. It was no use. She could not leave and start her search for Captain Sterling. It was then she looked down to find Mate, the little black dog looking up from his cozy home. Lilly quickly put finger to lip to silence the dog from yelping. Perhaps she would wait a bit. Morning was here, yet her company was fast asleep. She laid back again in her bed and closed her eyes. “God, keep him safe.” She whispered.
  10. You're most welcome, Captain. My fingers are not working very well today.
  11. Thanks for the link, Captain. I will look it over. Then I can plan bettewr with what I need to bring and schedule with others to limit costs. (My word! The Actress without seven trunks and her boot boy! What shall I do?!)
  12. (side note: Captain MacCraige - My you do know our Rats, don't you! By thunder, he can be heard a mile away)
  13. Diver, merchant or actress...whatever will work or be needed at the time. I did a bit of 'purchasing' for more of a period correct look if I were to sway from Actress to lower person of the time. I will bring and demo what I have at Port Washington this summer. Would it be more feasable to forward things to you Captain prior to PIP? Oh, once in FL how does one get down to the KEYS? Car/Bus?
  14. But Lilly couldn't sleep. She laid quietly thinking of all things that had passed between the good Captain and herself. He heart fell once more as the words rang in her head; Dead. She couldn't...wouldn't believe it. She had seen him on death's door more than once and every time, every single time, by the Grace of God he pulled through. "I know you...I know your heart. You still walk and breath." She said to herself. "I will find you. No matter what." She slowly lifted her head from her pillow and saw MacCraige dozing off. Lilly would wait until he was sound asleep once more and venture off to look for her Captain.
  15. Though it doesn't feel much like Easter (temps here in the low 40s this weekend)...I can say that at least the sun is out and small furry things are running about the lawn (no, not children)! To all of you I wish a very Happy Easter. Be safe, be well...and God Bless you all!
  16. “WHORE!” The very words rang through Lilly’s ears and stung deeply as she retreated against the oversize chair in Lord Darnly’s office. The vision of Lord Darnly’s face twisted with anger made her heart stop. It was on that very night she knew she had to flee his clutches. It only took less than eight months to realize that he was no manner of man she wished to deal with. Regrettably, she had waited too long to tell Captain Sterling of her plans to marry him. He had already set sail and now she was alone in the clutches of this mad man. With a start she awoke to a dark and quiet room.
  17. Lilly laid in her bed quietly as the doctor instructed her about her care. “AND…I shall note that you are not to move from this bed until I give the say so. Is that understood?” His eyes narrowed as he grabbed her hand. “You’d like that.” She muttered then cast her eyes back at Hamish. “This doctor is far too cruel, Captain. How do you expect me to get any better with the likes of him?” Her words were meant to sting the good doctor’s heart, but they only made him smile. ‘My word,” muttered Reiley. “And you call yourself an Actress?” It was then he quickly dodged a pillow being thrown from her side. “Take care! You’ll rip out my handy work if you keep having fits!” She quickly laid back into her spare pillow. The room soon grew very quite. “I am a fool Doctor. I should have made my peace with Captain Sterling. I love him…dearly.
  18. Lilly found herself faint and it was difficult to breathe after Reiley told her the news of her beloved Captain. “I must see him. I must go to him!” Lilly pulled herself up from the bed only to have the good doctor force her back into bed. “I won’t have it!” said Reiley grabbing Lilly’s shoulders and placing her back into bed. The little black dog’s excessive barking put the room on edge. “He is the father of my child! I still love him. I need to see him. “For God sake, Doctor, I need to see him, please!” “Not until you gain your strength back. I will not have your death on my hands!” Lilly laid back down and looked angrily at the good doctor. “Do not anger me, Sir. All I wish is to set sail back to England and if the Archangel plans to set its’ sails soon, by God I shall be on it!”
  19. Lilly looked up at Hamish's sun kissed face. "He said that he owned a plantation here. Perhaps a visit to the docks will enlighten you upon his where abouts." She turned her head slightly to look at little Mate. The little black dog quickly nuzzled his nose under her hand as he tried to encourage her to pet him. "Your Mate has been good company, Captain. I cannot thank you enough for saving me from such a horrid fate." As she pet the little black dog again, she looked over at the good doctor. "Reiley? What news of Captain Sterling?" She said with a tone of concern.
  20. Lilly’s eyes slowly opened. She could see the good doctor standing next to Hamish. At first she wasn’t sure if she was still dreaming. She moved her head ever so gently to look at MacCraige. “Dear Friend, ‘tis it you?” Her voice was barely a whisper as she tried to extend her hand to him. Slowly, a smile formed upon her lips. “Come, keep me company.” She said again. This time the little black dog shifted his position and turned about in a circle until her finally rested at her side.
  21. Mister Hutchinson sat quietly in the small earth craved room. His servant made him a bed and placed his evening meal on the small table next to him. "Enough, I am fine." He said picking up the glass of wine. "Why then are you hiding, Master?" Their eyes met. The uncontrollable urge to strike his man servant was edging him on to the brink of hysteria. Yet, he soon unclenched his fit and pulled at the bottom of his waistcoat. “Mind your place!” Mister Hutchinson suddenly looked down at his hands. He had washed them less than two hours before, yet he could still see Mistress McKinney’s blood upon them. An ill feeling quickly came over him. “I will see no one tonight. Is that understood?”
  22. March has never been a positive, power-provoking month for me. Sadly, it seems that “bad karma” has oozed its’ way forth through every emotional, psychological, financial and physical fiber of my being and glommed on to those important to me. Between the losses of close friends and family, the upsets in our personal lives and the anxiety of it all, I pray that everything will be much better this month. Prayers to those who need the love and support of a higher power and hugs to those who think that they be alone in their time of need. Remember, you are never alone.
