Chole, Could you please clarify the ‘social class’ of women you are speaking of. Am I to assume you are speaking about the comman/middle class? Would they have cloistered away upper class woman during pregnancy? Would she have had a ‘wet nurse’?

Lady Pirates/Wenches Needed for PWPF Harley Event
Cheeky Actress replied to Scuttle Sally's topic in March
This year's Port Washington Pirate Festival is lucky to have Suburban Motors Harley Davidson as a major sponsor. We are looking for approximately a half dozen pirate queens/ladys/wenches to ride on the back of some gorgeous new Harleys for a Motorcycle Fashion Show, and possibly in the parade as well. (Lilly pondering this text) - I wonder if my old company did the interior design for them?! Hmm...Pyrate Queens/Ladies/wenches? Well, Sally. Have not done it for this era, but did it for Wild West! Obtain a lovely shot of General Custer and me on the back their 50th anniversary model a couple years back. Something to think about...but knowing the target market that Harley Davidson wishes to advertise to, I think they would like to see more Hollywood Pyrates then period correct Pyrates. -

As Lilly sat upon crate, the medication which good doctor Reiley soon began to ware off or so she thought. As the looked about the dock and stared up at the grand ship of the Archangel, she heard a whistle coming from the way of the gangplank entrance. She sat quietly watching this man walk forward. Lilly suddenly could not breathe. There before her was a ghost. She was sure it was her beloved Captain who came back from the dead. There he was before her very eyes. Lilly wanted to call out to him, but she could not find her voice to do so. She could only watch as he disappeared from her view. It was then she began to cry. How cruel life had been for her. She could not believe that he was only a few yards away from her and she did not call out to him. Her head still spun and she now began to feel the pain of her wound. But that did not matter now, she now knew that he was alive and safe upon the Archangel, at least for the moment.

^ My 5th Grade Teacher, Diane Caroll. She was wonderful and inspired me. I was having a real tough time in math that year and she took the extra step for me; staying after school and coming in early so I would master it. Well I finally managed. In one grade period I went from an F to an A! She believed in me...and I still think of her often. < Date night tonight with my better half. Hope he remembers the movie. V What makes you stand up and take notice of the 'Opposite Sex'?

Lilly hadn’t been on the street for more than a few moments when she found herself in the middle of the market square. The hour’s business was busy, noisy, and smelly. She floated from one merchant to another inspecting carts, baskets, barrels, hacks, and the occasional hawker. Her mind was now clouded from the medication the good doctor had given her. “What did I mean to purchase?” She said to herself. “Where was I going? I was looking for something, wasn’t I?” She slowly walked through the market streets until she found her way down to the docks once more. The grand ships sat in the harbor as the sun danced on the waters. She stepped gingerly through the pitted road where the local men took notice of her. Standing look aimlessly for something, but she could not recall the item she sought. She could hear voices calling to one another aboard the ships in the harbor. It was then she found herself in front of a grand ship. As she looked on she saw the word, "Archangel' glimmering back at her.

“Where did she go?” Said Doctor Reiley as he returned to the small room. He found Hamish finishing a glass of port and tossing scraps to Mate. Hamish shrugged. “I needed to ‘step out’ for a moment. I was not gone for long. I thought she was with you?” In a panic, Doctor Reiley quickly dashed out into the hallway. “Oh no! We must find her. She is not stable to be out and about.” Both Doctor Reiley and Hamish quickly dashed down the hall to the main room of the tavern. “Bar keep!” Cried Doctor Reiley. “We are looking for a woman.” The Bar keep looked at the two of them with displeasure. “Here, I run a respectable place. If you want any of that sort of thing I you’ll have to go someplace else for I don’t be…” “No, no. That’s not what the good Doctor meant!” Said Hamish. “The young woman who was lodging upstairs. She’s gone. Did you see her leave?” The Bar Keep looked a bit confused. “I saw no woman leave here.” Both men looked at each other and suddenly dashed off to the kitchen. As they entered the room they found an old woman dressed in a simple blue gown. “Mistress, did you see a woman leave this way?” The old woman looked up and smiled. “Aye, she left through the back way. She didn’t have anything decent to wear so I gave her a petticoat, apron and rust colored Mantua to wear. She was too happy to take it.” The two men looked at each other again. “She’s off to look for him.” Hamish muttered in whispered tones. “Damn woman!’ Doctor Reiley muttered back.

Several hours past and morning soon turned into mid afternoon. Lilly had refused to take any meals. She complained that she didn’t have the stomach for it. Food was the last thing on her mind. As Doctor Rieley administrated his care, he had instructed to her that she may feel weak or light-headed for a while. But little did he know that his treatment would spur something more than those symptoms for the next few hours. octor Rieley looked down at Lilly as she began to mutter excessively about the court, about the theater, about anything and everything under the sun! Hamish looked over at the good doctor and raised his eyebrow with a bit of concern. “Did you mean fer her to rattle on so?” Doctor Reiley crossed his arms and put his hand to his chin. “I think I may have over done it a bit on the dose.” “Yes, that’s obvious!” Said Hamish pointing to her as she continued to giggled and rant. “How long will she be like this?” Rieley turned back to Hamish as he tried to put Lilly back into her bed. “I’m not sure, but she doesn’t feel any pain…that is for sure! She should have eaten something for it is going straight to her! ” Lilly giggled uncontrollably as she continued to tease the little black dog. Mate began yapping and barking with the playfulness of the moment. “Come now, Lilly you’ll wear the poor dog out. You need to quiet yourself a bit or we will hear it from the Inn Keeper for sure!”

When my sister and I owned a clothing booth at Sterling, we use to have 'bodice lacing' contests with each other to see how fast we could 'lace up' ourselves (front closure style). Pretty entertaining when the 'professional actors' would come and take bets on which twin would win. Strange form of entertainment, but when the cannon went off...we had a hard time trying to 'come down' from our Renny high
