  1. ^ hmmm depends on what the information is being used for... kind of like antiques...one man's garbage is another man's gold.. < Ah does this writing hurt? V If you could go back in time and take home one period correct object, other than a ship, what would it be?
  2. ^ one can NEVER have enough hats!! Although mine covers GAoP and then some. A lot of then some... well at least the first one does... the second is GAoP only. Although my 17th Light Horse Dragoon helmet takes the prize!!! It is the coolest! < OOPs sorry Cheeky jumped yer post... do without??? hmmm nothing love the entire kit < DON'T EVEN START me on what's taught in elementary schools regarding history!!! Banging head on keyboard!!!!!! And wishing I could keel haul a number of my students... argggggggggggggggggggggg.. 4. :lol That would be my default job. The good Captain Sterling is lucky just to see another day, much less worry about which one it is. I agree with Chole, I am just way too confused to know what time it is!!
  5. Voice over, Narrator: And thus ends another day in the quaint little town of Port Royal.... snigger...
  6. No Pat, you didn't, the artist did!!!
  7. ^ Back home in NY always did, haven't actually made it to the library in VA yet... 8. ^ The English Dancing Master, by John Playford, but since I mentioned this already, snigger, the one prior to that would be Wits, Wenchers and Wantons, by E. J. Burford. < The above book has absolutely nothing to do with my persona... ahem.. Thanks Chole for the info... V Last book you actually read, cover to cover, and not just the important facts...
  9. Very nice!! My Far Better Half would love this! Really into Victorian architecture. Since the first house we built when we were married was early Victorian, now tis my turn.. I keep countering with this... tis just an artist's rendition of William Kidd's house...but I wonder if there really is any paper work in the city regarding it... I know they have some on one of the building that was supposedly across the street...
  10. ^ About four hours, with work I always have my nose in one with the kids < Have an author/editor for that? V Do you think one can have too many books?
  11. ^ Book form... I just have to have a hard copy in hand... geeze that just doesn't sound right < No I haven't. Was thinking of trying the French version, The Dancing Master by Pierre Rameau as someone told me the best place to look for carriage and manners was in the dance books of the period... V dance or rather sit and drink?
  12. ^ Yes my new copy of The English Dancing Master... nothing on etiquette at all, only music and dances < Well captain's daughter likes the book, just sat down and played one of the songs on the violin and I guess Cheeky and the others can learn the dances... so maybe its not a complete waste... V Top five books you would buy instantly if ye had the money
  13. Um... Mr. Pinon, welcome to Port Royal, but what ever yer up to, remember you might need permission before you go to far with someone else's characters...
  14. My word! What ever gave you that idea... surely every once in a while one has to go sew for the crew!!! AND if one is truly fortunate, sew for oneself!!! Not to mention research, research, research, oh and spend time with the spouse... Just because I'm up most of the night doesn't mean the far better half will wait all night for me to come to bed...
  15. the worst bit is that printing what appears to be one page on the pub, is actually about what, four or five pages on paper!
  16. ^ ummm, a blur < have come to the conclusion that showers prior to arriving at school are a waste of time...sigh... messy kids... V favorite subject whilst you attended school?
  17. The hood. Over the last 300 years it has been customary to hood the prisoner with a white hood. Nobody is entirely sure why white was the chosen colour. In Tyburn and Newgate days the "hood" was an ordinary nightcap rather than a purpose made execution hood, and as these were generally white, presumably this became the traditional colour. It would seem that the nightcap was optional and provided by the prisoner to hide their face from the crowd. When the prisoner had finished praying, the hangman simply pulled it down over their face. makes one wonder...
  18. ^Today? All day.. <And, pray tell, just how am I bragging? And just how many buttonholes did I say I could do??? V Do you ever have one of those days?
  19. ^ no one... < ah hand made buttonholes VHow many buttonholes can you do a minute?
