  1. You all are Fabulous! How well do I remember many of those songs from my days at the Inn Yard. Fond Memories indeed.

The party (see the begining of this thread) and the songs went very well. If anyone would like a Word Doc of some of the lyrics I collected, I'd be happy to send it to you. Just drop me a line....

And just to sweeten the pot and say thanks, how about this old favorite:

    If all the young lassies

    Were winds on the sea

    I'd be a ship

And I'd let them blow me

Roll your leg over, roll your leg over

Roll your leg over the man in the moon...

    If all the young laddies

    Were bread on the table

    I'd be the butter

    And spread while I'm able

    If all the young lassies

    Were sheep in the clover

    I'd be the Ram, and

    Ram 'em all over

  2. Well, some of us did come to piracy late. Goodness, I'm in my 30's! All that time wasted as the French Girl at Northern!

Even so, I'm starting my first official (there have been several unofficial) Pirate outfit and as a seamstress, I will be making it myself. These links are terrific, even if they are old. I think I'll put a library together and post it somewhere....

Still, the best reference material I've found so far is you all. The gallery is what brought me here in the first place, looking for inspiration for my Pirate Sketch book. Now I want all the clothes I dream up and a place to wear them.

Curse Sacramento for being so damn far away from the Florida Coast!

  3. We wanted to do a Pirate Captain's Cabin for the bedroom, but aswe live in an apartment, we had to settle for the Pirate Bathroom.

It started when our cat decided that toilet paper was the best toy ever and we bought a small wooden chest to put it in. Now we've got fishnetting (and a plastic lobster) hanging from the ceiling, glass globes suspended from the corners and a carved toucan!

And of course our pirate devil ducky for the bath...

    Its my favorite room!

ps: the fish net came from Mexico. It was actual used netting from the fishing industry there that we found in a kistch shop, and Whew! it was fragrant when we opened the bag! Hehe....

  4. Yes, we plan to visit the HMS Surprise and the other lovely ships at the Maritime Museum as well as the aircraft carrier there. We're really looking forward to it.

Alas, further investigation revealed that the Californian will notbe sailing when I have vacation. Oh well.

  5. I'm throwing a Pirate Party on the beach for me Intended on his 40th birthday this summer and we wanted to spend some of the party singing Pirate Songs and the like. Even so, not everyone who is coming is well versed in traditional Shanties. Can anyone make a suggestion as to where I might find lyrics on line for the traditional sea songs?

  6. Well, Har, everyone,

Lookin fer Pyrates in Sacramento, and all I found war lobbyist.

Thought it would do me own Ren Faire bred heart some good to find a crewe to muck about with as I've just moved here fer work. Kinda new te the port. Don't know the lay o the land, don't cha know.

Anyone doin' pirate songs or sea shanties a la The Jolly Rogers or Sea Dogs. Anyone out there indulging in some pirate costuming for that Inevitable Peers Pirate Ball? Anyone catch the Lady Washington while she was in town?

I figure there are enough Gypsies (and close personal friends of Gypsies) still left in these parts to venture a call out....

Anyhoo... it might be nice to get back into the re-enactment thing. Har.
