Jib, not sure I understand exactly what you want here... do you mean Frock coat as opposed to sailor's jacket, or the "names" of some of the originals to google them... For instance... this is known as the Manchester Coat(at least amongst reenactors)...as it comes from the Manchester museum This would be considered a Frock Coat Yes I just wondered if these images are of what was considered a frock coat or justacourps (spelling?) or perhaps something else. In our modern world if you saw me wearing a jean jacket you could call it a coat but might refer to it differently. Just wanted to use the proper term. And Sir, your garb is wonderful!

After adopting your animal companion and returning to your camp you discover the true nature of the beast. The green parrot speaks a few words of French and is very adept at finding fruits and nuts on the island. He calls out something that sounds like “Je Tem” when happy. The parrot also seems to be good look out and will squawk when something dangerous approaches. The mongrel dog is loyal and intelligent companion. She has a good nose and appears to be a natural tracker. The dog will defend you and can take one wound that you would have taken in a fight or encounter. Of course by taking the wound the dog will perish. The tan and black monkey is a little devil! He bites, throws poop, and constantly screams. If you selected the monkey he has managed to steal one of you items and has hidden it. He also stays away from any attacks you might launch at him. A month passes (or so you believe) on the island. One rainy morning you notice smoke coming from the western beach. Upon reaching the location you discover a group of six Indian fishermen and a canoe. Three of these men are adults, two look like teenagers, and one is just a boy. They appear to be repairing their canoe and cooking a lunch of fish over a driftwood fire on a stony little beach amid the mangroves. You approach them and remain hidden for a time. After awhile you decide they are no threat and approach. The Indians are surprised to see you but no not appear violent. One of the Indians speaks some Spanish and you are able speak with them. They tell you they are from a neighboring island and suffered from a damaged rudder. They arrived here to fix the problem and plan to return home. They would like to take you with them but there is no room in the canoe. They do promise to return and share a lunch of fish with you allowing you to eat as much as you wish. After the meal the Indians seem eager to engage in trade with you. They will trade you one of your items for one of their possessions (one for one). They will not trade the canoe. They will not take your animal companion. The items they have for trade include: A set of twelve steel fishing hooks and line. A bottle of foul smelling tonic that they tell you is a healing elixir. A flint and steel in a doeskin pouch. A bow and thirty bone headed arrows. And lastly a short cape of blue, green, and red bird feathers. What will you choose and what will you trade for these items? If you are a Lady Pirate you may try to use seduction to receive an item in trade for free.

Lice may have been so common as to not even be considered in documentation.

120 pounds! Wow my female black and tan hit 85 pounds and most people think she's huge! Of course if you mention it to her she will tell you that she's petite (German Shepherds tend to talk a lot!)

I would guess that we have a good number of garments in museums from the GAOP. I would also guess that the bodies of people who dwelt during these times have been exhumed for research. Any mention of lice? Imagine they were quite common.

I was hopeful that I could bring my game to the Port Washington Pirate Festival but alas, even after repeated attempts, I got no where. HOWEVER the lads and I still plan to attend and would love to meet many of you. Who will I have the pleasure of drinking with?

After the tidal bore empties from the cave you go in search of the other two items but find that they must have been carried out to sea. Regretfully you return to your shelter clutching you remaining piece of treasure. Once back you can investigate what you choose in detail. If you choose to take the silver candlestick holder you discover it is indeed solid silver and weighs in upwards of three pounds. It is well crafted and looks like the type found in homes of royalty with detailed floral patterns. You estimate that if you sell this item in Port Royal it will keep you in drink, food, and pleasant company for at least four months. If you choose to take the rapier you notice that it doesn’t have a single spot of rust on it despite being found in a sea cave. The blade is flexible and razor sharp. Upon closer inspection you notice markings that indicate the weapon was made in Toledo Spain. The pummel stone is heavy and appears to indeed be a real gem stone. If you choose to take the sack made of reptile skin and decorated with cowrie shells you discover it contains a rosary made of ivory. However instead of a crucifix a mummified human finger is attached to the end of the rosary. This bizarre and macabre item seems to be more than it appears. After a short time you discover that when you are in the presence of danger the finger which is naturally straight will curl up. Two weeks pass on the island. If you brought food and/ or water as one of your items you consume the entirety. However you find that by getting a large amount of nutrition into your system you heal the wounds inflicted on you during the shipwreck. If you did not bring food and/ or drink you discover that at least once per day the island is bathed in a brief shower of rain which you can catch in you clothing ( or towel if you are Welsh Wench) and squeeze out for survival. You also manage to catch small crabs on the beach, find a little fruit amid the trees, and bring down a gull or two with a thrown rock. While this isn’t enough food to allow your body to heal you can survive and even stock up a little excess. The island is beautiful but rather lonely. After awhile you decide to try your hand at hunting to avoid boredom. You have heard tales on bigger game on some of these islands so you head inland. While scouting out the area you do see the tracks of what appears to be wild boar. You also discover that you are not alone on the island. You find a colorful green parrot, a scruffy mongrel dog, and a tan and black monkey. You know that you can provide enough food and water to keep one of these animals as a companion if you want. However you can only keep one (the others must be let go or EATTEN, your choice). Which do you choose?

You remember little of the night before. A storm, howling winds and rain, the crack of the main mast and then water and darkness. You wash ashore in the early hours of the dawn. Your body is bruised and battered from the long swim and the collapse of your ship. You are wounded and know that you can only take two more wounds of this severity before you succumb. The beach is covered in debris from the wreck. You were headed toward Antigua when the storm hit your ship. You believe that you may have been in the Leeward Passage when the storm came up and drove your ship over a corral head. All you have are 3 items you managed to grab before you were washed overboard. The island you are on looks to be of good size and seems to have both abundant plant and animal life. You drag a few pieces of the ships debris up toward the tree line and build a shelter. You build a good shelter if you brought and axe, tool, or cutlass. You build a crude shelter if not. If you brought a tinder and flint, spyglass with a lens, or a pistol you can make a fire. If not you must do without. By late in the day you decide that you should explore the island. You need fresh drinking water (unless you took water as one of your 3 items) and you want to see if anyone else survived the storm. You follow the coast and notice an abundance of gray fins that pierce of the surface of the water around the island. Swimming away from island isn’t going to be a choice. You also can imagine the fate of the rest of the crew. At dust you discover a sea cave that looks like it might provide good shelter. You enter the sea cave and toward the back discover 3 items. One is a silver candlestick holder, the second is a rapier with a ruby pummel, and the last is a sack that appears to be made of some type of reptile skin and decorated with cowrie shells. Suddenly a tidal bore surges into the cave giving you only seconds to flee before the entire complex is flooded. You can grab only one of the items. Which one do you choose?

I almost wet my pants laughing at this one!

You will find out more about the island in the following chapters... Make your choices!

I should have mentioned that it is in either the 1600 or 1700's. Anyone want to change what items they take?
