As you probably already know, many crews banned gambling for money onboard their ships. My interpretation of this is that gambling still was allowed on shore.

In the search of the ship The Flying (or Fiery) Dragon some small pieces of metal with marks on were found, which were assumed to be tokens used instead of money. Check out either X Marks the Spot: The Archaeology of Piracy or the documentary Pirate Island.

Ok so I am also a writer and was wondering what were some common games played when gambling amongst pirates

So my first question is about gambling. Dies anyone know of some games that were common among pirates?

Ok I'm starting a book of my own about pirates... I have some questions and I'm hoping for the most accurate reply I can happen across, which is why I started this thread

The first question I have for ye is what we're some common games they gambled with during the pirate era?

I'm an aspiring novelist as well as a pirate at heart I come across things I don't know about pirates all the time and I'm hear to ask question and possibly answer them so if you can help it would be much obliged thank ya

Bloody Flame comes from my love of fire and fighting and Wind Rider comes from a good mate of mine who said if when I find me ship and sail the sea I would ride the wind across this world and the next leaving chaos in my wake and Gail is a term for a strong gust of wind if ye didn't know
