  1. Ahoy Captain, I believe this be working the way you want now. . . if so, I'm going to unpin it.
  2. In the ( old ) scheme of things, we use to be able to have a profile picture, that displayed in profile and a user avatar image that displayed when making posts. The recent software upgrade seems to have broken this - and I'm sorry to say I don't see an easy fix. In any case - it appears our user avatars and profile pictures are one in the same now.
  3. Alright, from what I can tell, they seem to have been changing the systems software architecture while I was asleep at me post - I apologize for not paying closer attention and being out of touch. Anyway to help remedy the situation. . . In the top right hand corner, click on your user name ( once you've logged in of course ) and select My Profile from the resulting pulldown menu. This should take you to your profile page. From your profile page, select the Edit my Profile button near the top right – just under the Google advertisement. You should now be in the My Settings portion of your profile. On the left hand side, near the bottom – select the Notification Options tab. From there you should be able to set the if and how you would like to be notified. END ----------------------------------------------------------------- If this doesn't remedy your situation, I'm sorry to say you may need to go back and re-establish a connection with those forums/topics - by clicking on the Follow this topic button near the top of the page.
  4. Give it a chance - I'm working on it. . .
  5. Yah I know. . . there's all sorts a stuff broken on it right now - I'm working on it.
  6. The Pub has another software update in store for it - that will likely break something else, but hopefully that will fix it.
  7. Ok it can be global to all forums or local to a forum, but not local to a specific topic/post. . . let me look into it though - there might be some code or a hack already out there that will do it.
  8. To be honest - (I thought) that's what we were already doing. . . kinda. For a while Jamaica & Black Syren were going to keep it organized and up to date - but they've both been pulled away. No, what I mean is that when you open page three of the comments, the first post from the first page still appears at the top. With the ability to click on the latest entry, the first page is easily skipped in a multi-page thread. What I am trying to do is consolidate all the threads for different years of the same event into one thread. If the first post is the event info, it only needs to be changed after the event and the same thread can work for the event the next year. Then the event organizer doesn't need to start a new thread for each year of the event. (Go look at June and maybe you'll see what I mean. The same event appears more than once on the first page of the forum because a new year with new dates/times/whatever has come up and the old thread is no longer relevant.) Oops, sorry - I get it. Now that you mention it, i think there is a way. . . As Admins we can make/post (stickyish) announcements and those announcements can either be made global or local - they would have to be posted, managed and maintained by the Admin group. But let me look into it to make sure.

  10. I am sure this option is a lot more work, but I like it :) (As I shoot myself in the foot or head - and talk about something I haven't a clue about. . .) I don't think that it's so much work - but more a matter of research and implementation. And at the moment my dance card is pretty full up and I can't even think of looking into something like this until the beginning August. . . But if someone else has the know how or can point at some applicable examples, by all means - please do.
  11. I love this idea and have been talking about doing something similar for a while. Quite a few years ago I helped write an (clickable) events calendar with recipicle links to discussion forums and image galleries for an old version of phpBB, but between changes in technology, web browsers, PHP and HTML, keeping up with it and writing bug fixes ended up being hell. There may already be a system similar to what we want written and out there, I just haven't come across it - granted it's been a while since I've looked.
  12. In February of 2013, the Pub will be coming up on her 10 year anniversary - I plan to keep her afloat in someway, shape or form at least until then. LOL Facebook has its place and is great for touching base, reestablishing contact, self-promotion, contacting people you may not otherwise come in contact with - admittedly it has taken a bite out of Pyracy Pub traffic, but I think we’re far from being a dead forum. Unlike the Pub, Facebook doesn't hold conversation well - at least not beyond short unmanageable bursts of the supercilious. On the Pub however, you can participate in and leave a conversation thread, then reply back some number of days, weeks, even months later without skipping a beat - and it works, that’s a strength.
  13. Sounds like it could be interesting - do you have a link to the developer's web site or the game's app/info page?
  14. You know there's a Facebook Like button at the bottom-ish left of this page. . . click on it and it shows up on your Facebook Wall - that is if you're logged into Facebook and have them synced.
  15. Stynky likes that Duchess likes Blackjohn's likes Duchess' comment. . .
  16. Now that you've pissed me off you can. LOL Sure no problem - test to your heart's content.

  18. No problem - sorry if the trouble was on out end.
  19. All I can think is that the web servers either got bogged down with traffic or the hosting company was doing some behind the scenes maintenance - in either case, service can get slow or clunky (temporarily). . . . as it is - I'm doing some maintenance now.
  20. Check her out - we should be back online!
  21. The Pub's Image Gallery be feeling a bit hung over just this moment, but she should be back online and smart as paint sometime later on today . . . or this evening.
  22. Sorry about that - let me look into it.
  23. Have you done all the proper superstitious techno-voodoo type stuff that doesn't usually do anything? Like clearing out your web browser cache - closing your web browser and reopening it, turning your computer off then having a double shot of rum and turning it back on again. Then there's always the Deliver Us From, . . . or maybe that's Deliver Us To Evil Spit Dance - basically you turn and spit in all four directions of the compass, then smash a bottle over your head. . . I can't remember what order to that though. If you do it right - that should fix everything, but if you do it wrong - it could make things worse. On a serious note, I'm not seeing anything obvious. But if you can tell me when you were on and having problems (rough Date/Time) - then I can take a closer look and do a search for errors in the server logs.
  24. Back in the day, before computers abducted everybody, I contracted as a designer/layout artist for the print industry. I found that asking for an up-front deposit, showed the customer that I was serious about doing business with them. And when they made a deposit towards their job - I could at least count on not being out anything for materials. Later when working in software, I found it to be a similar dynamic. Asking for/negotiating a deposit for custom work seems reasonable to me.
