  1. That substitute stuff is horrible and has trouble igniting - black powder is so much better. Assuming your profile reads right - I would think gaining access to black powder shouldn't be the problem where you live. In California, black powder can be really hard to come by at times. The best solution was to get together with friends, pool our monies and order in bulk - I can't remember what it broke down to, but it was considerably cheaper than buying the same 1, 2 or more cans individually at one of the few stores that still carried it.
  2. I was just about to say, a popular 1980's way to age 501 blue jeans and blow out the knees was with sandpaper. First you would put them on, sit or squat down and lightly sandpaper one or both of the knees, then the pant leg hems and outer raised seam edges - making sure to avoid sanding/breaking/stressing any actual seam stitching, you want to try and maintain the integrity of your garment. After that, a couple good heavy washings in hot water, accompanied by a little Clorox and you're ready to hit the Palladium and go see the Ramones. . .
  3. Animal, It's general Pub Policy to let posts be what they are. I'm sure that you're not the only one with concerns or questions, especially in the absence of information - I don't think you have anything to apologize about. If anything your post helped light a fire under the subject and get information flowing to the people that need it.
  4. Haha - Before Cascabel and I did all the work/rework on my pistol, I was only able to fire 2 or 3 times before it would misfire. It had similar problems, cock angle, an overpowered main spring - though the frizzen needed to be hardened, my flints would shatter to nothing just after firing a few times. It got frustrating real quick.
  5. Very cool - can't wait to see the new photos.
  6. At once I am elated but then, upon further thinking, I am worried. (About my hat, about my mug, about my phone messages, about my sanity...) Huzzah! Sanity - What's that?
  7. On a boat, in the Keys. . . I don't like you anymore.
  8. Animal, I think you might need to get your coconuts checked or maybe your service upgraded to a shell phone. The new Fort Manager is relatively old news. As for inclinations, my understanding is that he’s pretty lackadaisical about the whole thing and was just particular about specific hoops to jump though - any issues ( if you can even call them that ) all got resolved earlier in the year. From everyone I’ve talked to, the Fort Taylor Pyrate Invasion is happening according to plan . . and the Pub already has it's tent space pick-out in the fort. I know Fayma has got her hands full just this moment - I'll see about getting more information.
  9. Great testing scheme. But one of the things I've found to make a difference is the humidity of location. For instance during PiP/FTPI in Florida and firing aboard ship, is less reliable than when firing in California were I've literally fired non-stop with very few misfires, going through a pound and a half of 3F powder in a day. Are all your tests being done at the same time? Or is this more general and less scientific?
  10. Have a Happy Talk Like A Pyrate Day!

  11. Good to hear Mate, but we still got problems - just taking care of the big stuff first. . .
  12. For the most part we should be up and running, but we're still having problems - heavy hitters/tech support is working on it.
  13. Alright - it looks like most us have our Avatars back. . .
  14. Yah, for some reason people find that Surgeon's Journal stuff an entertaining read. . .
  15. This is working now. . . as far as we can tell right?
  16. I think Bo's explanation of "Captain Twill" is plausible and seemed to be implied/understood earlier - though I'm not sure that it was ever said out load before. . . except maybe by Cascabel as an insult. "Crow's Nest" use to be called "Initiation Rights" or something along those lines I think.
  17. Very Cool! - You should add this to the Pub's Facebook page.
  18. For whatever reason . . . I'm not seeing it.
  19. I love this idea and have been talking about doing something similar for a while. . . Well we finally have a clickable Events Calendar that people can comment/post conversation threads to. . . at least in theory. What we need to do is populate it with events, start using it and make sure it works the way I/we think it does. To echo Mission's suggestion - lets make sure to include the what, when, where and contact info. . . FORMAT: Month Day - Day, Year Event Name Location Address City, STATE, COUNTRY Event Web/Facebook Link Contact Person Event Phone Event Email Description
  20. One might be in store for us if I can get it to fit and look right - but for now there are bigger fish to fry.
